Discounts for OAPs

Think thats more general shrinkflation than owt else. But i agree, some places portions were too big

Sorry wasn't very clear there, meant like lite bite menus and stuff rather than just smaller meals overall. Much better imo when you just want something small, especially at chippies.

I'd go one step further and lob them all in out of town business parks repurposed in to Retirement villages. Stop them getting lonely, ensures they have heating in the winter, and they can knit scarves and stuff for the homeless in their spare time.

Could even get some kids visiting and utilise it as free day care.

Stick mini-busses and stuff on for them to have little trips to town and that, would sort the country right out.

It was a glib comment as you well know.

Well done for ignoring the challenge that pensioners are wealthier than twenty somethings.
I haven't ignored anything, you just haven't listened to what I've said. You used median wealth to prove your point, which is ridiculous and I've told you so. You can have two pensioners living on the same low income. One rents the other has a million quid house. On paper the house owner is a millionaire. The renter is a pauper. Yet they live on identical incomes.
Now you know why I said you were a wum in that earlier post. It's because you are one and you are proving it with every reply here.

I’m fully aware this will be as popular as a guinness fart in a lift, but nevermind. Not trying to be contrary, just intrigued

Why is OAP a discount still a thing. OAP wealth is greater than all other age groups, why do they get a discount for the match, transport, the cinema, whatever?

Don’t give me Mavis who is living on the state pension, the counter is Steve who is living on unemployment benefits.

We paid in all our lives, worked since I was 16 etc etc

are you arguing that a pensioner in a million quid house should get a season ticket discount vs a 30 year old renting?

Are you genuinely arguing that ability to spend is based on income and doesn’t include wealth at all?

That’s an absolute batshit argument

Call me a WUM if you want, but it’s nonsense

Bollocks.
The people receiving their pensions now deserve every penny - they have paid into the system, and now it's time to feel the benefit of it.
That is what the Welfare system does - it is there to help and protect people from financial hardship in old age - as well as unemployment etc etc.

As will you benefit from it when you get to retirement age.

Nah, you're wrong.

I’ve paid into the system but now I’ve got to wait for 2 years longer before I get my state pension

Outdated thing in pubs, chippies and restaurants mind but thankfully most places have ditched it in recent years and replaced it with smaller portions for everyone. Much better imo as there's nowt worse when you have to get a full portion when you're not hungry. Chippies, in particular, used to be the worst.
Chippies are still the worst
Look at the size of portions about 30-40 years ago and about half the size of todays
