Southampton spying compendium thread

Again, Haway man, have you seen what it's like on here man 🤣 Look at some of the meltdowns on here when we go through a bad patch yet the same ones cream their knickers when it's good again.

Don't get me wrong I know what you're saying but like here, those online are just a small part of the fan base. Being online it's much easier to say shit and then change their tune as they're just fickle fuckers no matter what.
Watching the Total Saints Podcast and they’re very sanguine about it. Mainly saying seeing as they’ve admitted it it’s daft to appeal. They’ve embarrassed the club etc

I agree

Boro and Southampton both had the advantage of knowing which opponents to prepare for.

Hull havent.

It's like us being in an FA cup final, finding out whether we play City or Liverpool three days before and folk saying, sorry, prepare for them both and don't worry about it.

Be more sensible for Southampton to sack Eckhart and all his staff straight away surely? It’s the only way for them to try and move forward

Those saying it was trivial would be the ones I would haven o sympathy for. Literal pictures of a club staff member watching the opposition training session. It's been obvious from the start this is incredibly serious. If it was SAFC I would have been immediately worried about sanctions and wouldn't have revelled in it in the slightest
Aye, but as I've said to Monkeylove we'd have fans saying/thinking similar things, it's what small sections of clubs footy fans do. It's clear some on here didn't realise the seriousness of the situation and if it was us some of those would be taking the piss thinking nowt would happen.

I knew about the way the other EFL teams kicked off when Leeds got caught and then the rules came in. If it was that trivial now, why the reaction to Leeds and the penalties that range from a fine to expulsion? Why would a club risk it?

Some also said the rules should have specific punishments but how could that be done? They'd investigate as the facts could vary considerably that specific rules can't be used. Depending on the evidence, they'd then give appropriate punishment and I believe it's correct that Southampton don't play in the final, albeit possibly a different way. It's just the fact it's such a time sensitive issue and it's the fans of all 3 teams affected but what else can the EFL do in such a short time?

You've got people saying Hull should go through because Boro lost. Boro saw the 'spy' on Thursday 7th and reported it on Friday 8th and the 1st leg was on the Saturday. Some also said Boro should have refused to play but realistically how could Boro refuse to play when they won't have a clue about the outcome and need more time to make their own investigations to find more evidence of cheating to back up their claims?

They could have expressed their concerns to the EFL and asked for a delay but the EFL told them to play the game or face conceding it 3-0. I think the correct punishment should have been a 3-0 awarding to Boro for the 1st leg and therefore they win 4-2 on aggregate. Boro proceed to the Final and Southampton lose rather than being booted out.

As for the fine and points that can depend on what else they did as that could take longer for the facts to come out. It may be the appeal change the booting out to the 3-0 but I can't see Southampton being in the final at all, it just can't be allowed given the facts that have come out.

It's would have been shit for the Hull fans if the final was delayed but hopefully not. The Boro fans probably feel like we did in 1990 and the Southampton fans like the Swindon fans. Obviously there's the Southampton fans who took the piss but no doubt they feel like idiots now and hurting badly and we can laugh at them. Those Southampton who were concerned to begin, like I would have been as I first posted HERE, have my sympathies as it's few individuals at the club that have done this to them now.

Ipswich won’t care but if it becomes apparent they cheated a lot more than the known three occasions, Wrexham might consider action.

Millwall might as well
I'd be amazed that, if they have evidence, the owners at Wrexham wouldn't try to find some sort of way to begin litigation against Southampton. Either through sports 'courts' or an actual civil case.

Imagine that they'll have had the security people frantically downloading all available footage from the week before each game against the sinners.

Imho it's becoming quite clear that they've been at it since the new gaffer arrived. It also looks likely they have probably put their hands up to the two 'less important' (have little impact due to results) spying charges as a defence to curry favour with the EFL panel.

I'd imagine that the TIC (taken into consideration) plea is purely to allow the EFL panel an 'out'; to try and draw a line under things and divert from investigating other possible allegation of breaches, which would be a 💩⛈️ of biblical proportions.

Not sure that would be allowed to fly by Ryan Reynolds and co.

It’s going ahead 100%

I still think unfortunately Southampton have a couple of cards to play.

Most obvious would be if they lose today to bring a new claim to challenge the actual procedure. It’s pretty obvious that for expediency the EFL can’t follow their own process which requires 14 days. And also doing the appeal today means Southampton are having to do the appeal also in a very short time scale and without the full written judgement. I’m sure Southampton could have some recourse to challenge that and it’s what journalists are suggesting their lawyers are looking at. First rule of law if you can’t challenge something substantively (which I doubt they can) then go after the process. Just look how long Man City have delayed things.

If that fails they could still and try to potentially take it outside football into the courts and try for an injunction. The obvious angle would again be lack of fair process which creates some kind of breach of contract of faith.

Not sure whether either of those would be successful but it’s undisputed that the EFL have had to discard the usual process to get this done quickly and that almost certainly will open up some risk for them.

Southampton know once the game is played it’s over and they are chasing just compensation after that point (Not saying they have a case but that would be their only recourse) so with little to lose I fully expect them to make another legal challenge to try and stop the final if they lose today.

They’re appealing the punishment which is different to appealing the accusation which they admitted

Tie will go ahead and EFL will pray Boro lose to prevent a situation where Southampton make such a fuss that they end up going up because the punishment was too severe
