They admitted to spying on 2 other teams in their written submission, but I simply don't believe they spied on Oxford in November then left it to Ipswich the next year then Boro?

As I posted earlier on the thread their manager is famous for his meticulous team preparation, and spends the 3 training days before every match specifically focusing on set pieces and set up against the upcoming opposition. The whistleblower also said they often discussed which set plays the opposition might use and how to counteract them in meetings and during training. Also a number of teams have apparently discussed through the season how good Southampton were at dead ball routines and how surprisingly well they nullified opposing dead ball situations.

I reckon it was systematic through the staff and systematic over the league.

Seriously though, chances are the players would have known about this if Salty Bill was a technical analysis close to the manager. Presumably his ‘findings’ on each occasion were presented in team meetings or on the training ground.

They've admitted to the ones they know there's implicit messages for. It'll have happened for every game no doubt about it.

Southampton HAD to be dealt with and the play off final needs to go ahead (for various reasons), it can't be delayed by much cos of other things looming (players needing to be released for world cup duties etc).

Not disagreeing that it was difficult for EFL and the weight of opinion on here (i kna !) seems to indicate most think was correct decision…..just tough on Hull .
Fwiw ( absolutely nowt ) think you will get through .

They will have been aware that this was a possible outcome and will have planned accordingly.

Also it implies training is all about concentrating on the opposition. You develop your own tactics and routines and then also look at the particular threat of the opposition. They’ve still got plenty of time to do this

and if they get really stuck for ideas they know where Boro’s training ground is, and that there’s a nice golf course nearby

I can see what you mean but there is still a large percentage of fans on that forum saying they’ve been hard done by and playing a victim in the eyes of Gibson and the EFL. Granted it’s shit for them but they need to be looking at their own club, although they’re likely frustrated and lashing out as they’ll rightly miss out on the premier league money

Makes it even funnier that they only admitted to Oxford due to messages, there was no CCTV available from Oxford on the day of the offence and then they lost that game anyway :lol: :lol: :lol:
 
This is probably screwed Southampton for years.

If culpable they will likely lose most of their sporting management.

The ownership will likely never recover so would be surprised if they are there much longer. Their fans understandable won’t forgive them.

Might well face years of legal action and compensation claims if the scale is as it’s suggested.

And now their own players at worst looking to sue them. At best there will be a mass of exits in the summer. Apparently exploring with the PFA breach of contracts which would enable them to leave for free.

Pretty much every aspect of the club set back years from this.

Tbh it probably illustrates the difference between off/online fans

I know there are lots online saying it, I’m talking about the single Southampton fan I know in real life. Their reaction, rightly, is anger at the club
