Why??

If anything they are at an 'advantage' - now playing a team who have only just found out they are in the final, as apposed to the team who have been preparing for a couple of weeks??
 
What shocking timing from the rail companies mind blowing out the leg between Darlo and York on the day of the play off final, whoever made that decision needs firing out of a cannon

What’s mad is that some Southampton fans still want him to stay.

If I found out our head coach was cheating and likely cost us a play off spot (not to mention a points deduction), I’d want him sacked immediately.

Boro have been training, they will have prepared for Hull.

Hull didnt know who they were playing

The argument has been about small margins, now its Boro with the small margin advantage which they havent earnt.

Whilst they havent cheated for that advantage its also morally bankrupt of them to be happy to gain an unfair advantage when it suits.
 
I actually reckon Southampton have been guilty of spying for most games, but the club put forward a selection of games they’d lost or drew hoping to show the spying had little effect and they’d get off lightly, yet there’s the great big elephant in the room of their insane run of form since the new managers came in

He’d have done it for every game I think.

They clearly knew it was against the rules though, hence this intern shitting himself when Boro staff spotted him.

They will have been aware that this was a possible outcome and will have planned accordingly.

Also it implies training is all about concentrating on the opposition. You develop your own tactics and routines and then also look at the particular threat of the opposition. They’ve still got plenty of time to do this

Yet their tactics will be tailored towards the opposition strengths and weaknesses.

How can you master two very different tactics for completely different personel.

McBurney vs Strelec are totally different players

Hull will have known they were playing Southampton or Boro.

Those were the only feasible options. Not a great disadvantage. They will have prepared for both.

Boro heads will be scrambled after all of this. That will equalise things.

Indeed would explain their big up turn in results since this guy become manager....
 
Makes you wonder why they felt the need to spy on Boro in the first place. Surely their tactics were there for everybody to see:

Pass ball about a bit, look semi-competent, create chance for Conway who hits corner flag.

Concede goal from daft Ayling/dodgy keeper mistake.

Repeat ad infinitum…

I'd suspect their appeal will hinge on the proportionality of the sanction. Although Leeds did a similar thing before it became specifically banned, their punishment was financial. There is the argument that Soton have been denied the opportunity to contest a game that would result in income in excess of £200m should they have won.

This isn't done and dusted yet. Even if the game goes ahead, there is scope for legal action and could drag on for months/years.

Wasn’t like they had 46 games to see exactly what they were about. This Southampton head coach obviously thought he was really clever and it’s backfired big time :lol:
