Will Chelsea want to win on Sunday?

If they win tonight then they would be playing for Europa league against us, not conference
This! Apart from they play tomorra 😉

If they beat Spurs then they have a chance of 7th which would be Europa League. If they get beat that would leave them needing Brentford to get beat and beating us to get into Conference.

If they lose tomorra they may 'lose interest' in beating us as Conference will be a canny spend restriction for them, along with the extra games. Their SCR is currently over 70% I think so missing Europe for a season would possibly be better for them longer term.

I know they won it last season but I just looked an in 2023/24 and they had a chance of Europa League last game on the season but Spurs won.

Chelsea have always been one of those outfits where "get into them, fuck them up" is a tactic to use and not just a song to sing.

They won't relish playing their last game at the SOL. Be like us playing it in the Outer Hebrides to their players.

Get them on the back foot from the off and they'll be looking at the sub's bench by 30 minutes hoping to be put out their misery. The lure of playing in some no name European ground and not the Champions league in a few months won't be something to inspire them, that's for sure.

Time to put them out their misery and do the Mags a favour by ensuring they are not the only club we do the double over this season

If Chelsea beat spurs they move to 52 points going into our game.
That takes mags, everton and Fulham out of the equation doesn’t it? As they can all only get to 52 with a win.
However we play Chelsea so a draw puts us both above them and a win one of us goes above for at least the 8th place unless the others make up a big goal difference and Brentford lose.…

Or have I worked it out wrong.

To secure conference league:

•Sunderland must beat Chelsea

•Brentford must drop points to Liverpool or Brighton must lose to Manchester United

Europa League possibility:

•Sunderland must beat Chelsea

•Brighton and Brentford both lose

Hhhaaa'wwwwaaaaayyyyyy the Lads

Yes. A bought and paid for outfit like Chelsea putting paid to the Mags' tiny hopes of getting into Europe seems fair dos.

It's not like they've got a small squad, and you can bet by bringing Alonso in that they'll be adding to it again.

Some players will want to shine in the remaining games to catch Alonso's eye, whilst others will want to put themselves in the shop window, so they will be wanting to end the season with a win.

Regardless of what Chelsea do, we'll have to be at our best on Sunday to win anyway.

If they win tomorrow and Bournemouth get beat they could still get into the Champions league couldn’t they ?
I think so, if Chelsea win both games, Bournemouth lose both their games, Liverpool win, and villa lose (which would create Champions league Spot for sixth place)

Aye. I don't think Xabi Alonso has came into manage in the conference league. I think it'll be a massive hinderence to them next season when they'll want to be in title contention.

Why would they want extra games?
They have millions of players and played those players in the conference league and won it 2 years ago, so it wouldn’t be a problem
