Europa or Conference League

For anyone wondering about the financials:

Conference league:
Just qualifying for the main league phase and doing reasonably well could bring in roughly £4m–£7m total.
A deep run to the semis/final could push it into the £10m–£15m+ region before ticket sales and TV money.

Europa:
Qualify + decent group results + Round of 16: roughly £8m–£12m
Semi-final run: roughly £15m–£20m+

Its not such a massive difference as I'd thought & much more likely to make the latter stages in the conference league I'd imagine too.

Lot less household names but cant afford to be choosy i guess….

Would we go straight into the group stages of the Europa?

I arrive in Rome for my 20th wedding anniversary the date of the 2nd leg of the final qualifying round and wondering whether the stars would align for us to play Roma in Rome that day 😂

I think Roma would need to lose their final game and Como to win otherwise they qualify for the Champions League.

Never said fans wouldn't once you go deep into the competition. Just stating even without European conference we can still kick on and do well next year if our recruitment remains at this sort of success. Europa league has that little more prestige that players may move for.
Our team will also be more experienced, settled and cohesive next year, which can only help too. For our fans starved of anything for so long, especially European football, I hope results do fall for us on the final day. Its been an excellent season that I wouldnt have dreamed of when we won promotion.
So no matter what happens, its been hugely successful. To think 10 years in the premier league last stint, and the best points total we got was 47 points. To surpass that first season back, and potentially finish just 4 points shy of reids best season.
There's never any guarantees of playing euro football, as we have seen from our many many years of never playing it so any chance at all has to be grasped with both hands regardless of which comp it is.
Who knows what next season will bring but every season should be to suck the most out of it that we can as it may not be as good the next year, especially in the prem league.

Who’d have thought we’d be on for Europe with only one game left.

What a f***ing utterly outstanding season we’ve had. None of us would have even dared to dream this would happen.

Thanks to all the players/staff etc, you’ve given us a team we can all be very proud of.

My boy got a bit stick early on, nobody is saying much to him these days, we’ve humbled them all 😂😂😂😂

As the mags proved this year though mate, the majority of PL squads can’t fight on four fronts.

If we do it on Sunday, we need to be realistic next season

I agree, but he was advocating playing the reserves in the Conference League group stages.

The best players are therefore left with a 38-45 match domestic season which is fine.

As long as we stay up in the PL I don’t care. 17th isn’t much different to 12th. While in an ideal world you’d finish as high as possible ultimately I’m not that arsed about the prize money that amounts to half a player.

Which would you prefer?

Europa has more prestige (and money) but we’d have a better chance of winning the Conference. Probably prefer Europa but I’d be happy with either.

Doesn't look to be any point in being in the Conference League. Looking at Palace's fixtures it was mostly at football clubs in the arse end of nowhere. Winning it? Tin pot, it wouldn't count for much, like Newcastle's 1969 thing. It would just be more matches and increased risk of injury when we're looking to improve in the league.

The Europa League is a completely different proposition. Looking at Villa and Forest matches this season, some good teams in there and some good places for a European tour. That would be worth playing more matches.

Some of the places Palace have been to look class. There mightn’t be many allocations of over 1k in it, that’s the drawback.

They have had a few days in Ireland , Strasbourg in France, a few days in a sun in march in Cyprus and a game is karkow as well as Florence in Italy I think. That’s 5 pretty easy unbelievable trips we could all make. Then a few more mental ones for the more adventurous amongst us

I've been to a few of them, e.g. Mostar, but those matches and that trophy not worth the effort and risk of injuries for me. As said, Europa League very different.

Another idiot who comes here to be entertained. Surprised you're not in the SMB section: favourite crisps and biscuits threads.

Probably depends on whether you were in the fortunate position to go, which 95% of our fans wouldn’t be.

If you were one of the 800 who got a ticket for a game in the arse end of Bulgaria it would be superb.

Both Milan teams have qualified for the Champions League.

Looking at the Serie A table on the BBC, Juventus are in the Conference League, not Atalanta.

Serie A does not finish until Sunday as well.
There is currently a four way fight for the final two Champions Lge places, which includes AC Milan

3rd AC Milan - 70 pts
4th AS Roma - 70 pts
5th Como - 68 pts
6th Juventus - 68 pts

Sunday games
AC Milan vs Cagliari (16th - safe from relegation)
Verona (relegated) vs AS Roma
Cremonese (3rd bottom - can stay up still) vs Como
Torino (12th - safe) vs Juventus
