Europe

Chelsea have a game in hand so can go above before we play them. Plus a draw would mean we can be overtaken by clubs on 49 points currently due to goal difference. A draw would more likely see us 10/11th

Big game for them yesterday will have taken it out of them and Spurs with everything to play for in a derby, Tuesday is not going to be easy for them

Plus, tired legs against us on the final day and if they were to lose Tuesday would leave them quite deflated

Loads of ifs and buts obviously

We need to beat Chelsea, which would put us above them regardless of what happens in their game in hand. So, assuming we do that:

We finish 8th and qualify for Conference League if either Brighton lose to Man Utd or Brentford fail to beat Liverpool.

We finish 7th and qualify for Europa League if both those things happen.

Villa winning Europa League apparently doesn’t change anything other than making 6th place CL if they finish 5th themselves, so no effect on us.

So if Chelsea beat Spurs, they go above us (which I hope they do because Spurs being relegated would be hilarious)
Can see Man U beating Brighton
And can see Liverpool beating Brentford
So our game against Chelsea now become huge, huge game at the SoL

This might actually happen

Also stress, anguish and anxiety but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The nights you remember the best. Emotional roller coasters finishing on a massive high

Cov at home, Wembley, Chelsea away, Mags away. Games you talk about for years to come

I’ve been trying to get my head round this. If I’d said a year ago we’d win at Wembley, get promoted, finish in the top half and maybe Europe whilst taking six points off the Mags and likely finishing above them … if I’d said all that a year ago I’d have been carted away to the funny farm … what a year to remember

If Sunderland beat Chelsea and...
Brighton lose to Man Utd (H) = Lads in Europe
Brentford draw/lose to Liverpool (A) = Lads in Europe

If Sunderland draw with Chelsea...
Guaranteed 9th place

Get the SOL shaking where it stands Til The End.
This shite below should be in the 1st post to stop all the questions as I can't start another Europe thread as I've seen 2 already. @MonkeyLove can I ask @Pancho to edit your post to add this below?

First, if Villa win the Europa League then there is no extra European place as the Premier League's EL place is lost. This is what would happen.

1. Champions League
2. Champions League
3. Champions League
4. Champions League
5. Champions League Villa
6. Champions League Extra place
7. Europa League (FA Cup)
8. Conference League (League Cup)

If Villa don't win the EL or don't finish 5th then it's this.

1. Champions League
2. Champions League
3. Champions League
4. Champions League
5. Champions League Extra place
6. Europa League
7. Europa League (FA Cup)
8. Conference League (League Cup)

Assuming we beat Chelsea, these are the results we need for Brighton (home to Man Utd) & Brentford (away to Liverpool) games that determines where we finish. It doesn't matter if Chelsea beat Spurs as we beat Chelsea so we'd be on 54 points and Chelsea on 52. If we draw we finish no higher than 9th.

Nee Europe
Brighton win, Brentford win - 9th
Brighton draw, Brentford win - 9th

Europa League
Brighton lose, Brentford win - 8th
Brighton draw, Brentford draw - 8th

Conference League
Brighton lose, Brentford draw - 7th
Brighton lose, Brentford lose - 7th

I hope it's right as I'm a bit giddy from the result as I didn't think we'd have a chance of Europa League 🤣
