Durham v Kent (A) C.C. 15/5/26

Both Lees and Robinson have become liabilities with the bat. Clark redeemed himself to an extent with a good innings previous game but was out to a terrible shot today. Neglect of the Academy results predictably in nothing coming through to replace them.
tbf, Lees and Robinson are in different league. Robinson's poor form has been onging for more than a year, whereas Lees had a good year last year. Still not convinced on his captaincy though despite Campbell's warm words.

Looks extremely vulnerable shuffling across his stumps and falling lbw or nicking off and hasn't addressed it. Opponents do note such vulnerability.

Only Bedders and Gay are consistent with the bat ,we're going to lose Gay to England with nothing in reserve either in batting or bowling. Frightening if either Potts or Raine get injured which has to be a danger given their excessive workload. That's reality.
Workload even though Potts was rested

Interesting situation after two days, we’re right up against it but I’m oddly not too upset.

We’ve seen a very common theme lately, where we’ve been outplayed at the half way stage but finished strong. I suppose the pessimistic amongst us would say we can’t keep getting into these positions because eventually it’ll come back to bite us, but in some ways I’m optimistic for tomorrow because I know we’ve got lads who can change a game on their own.

One good day from here gets us a draw to take back home and will see us in good fettle after the first block of games. Stokes didn’t look very comfortable at all tonight but he got to Close in tact. Bedders looked a million dollars before Tea and then really scratchy after. Both of them will be big scalps for Kent tomorrow morning, we need one of them (atleast) to go big.

The game has draw written all over it. Only 2 days left and Kent have to take 5 more wickets, then bat again, before leaving enough time to bowl Durham out again. And that’s before any bad weather plays a part.

It may be one of those increasingly rare occasions where Kent should enforce the follow on, if they can. Sunday looks OK for weather, Monday less so.

We are 350 runs behind and need at least 250 of them for that scenario.

There were warning signs in Lees' performances in the second half of last season. A quarter of his season's runs were scored in a single Kookaburra match against Surrey.
