Southampton spying compendium thread

Thought Boro were toothless and undeserving to reach the final, though the Saintless seemed to be playing mindgames all night... Hopefully Hull will win the final
They looked ok first 20 minutes or so... didn't deserve anything from the game.

Should be a points deduction next season whichever league they’re in. They can’t give Boro a 3-0 win or expel Southampton surely. Seems incredibly excessive given Middlesbrough still had 210 minutes to win the game on the pitch.
Why can't they? They could potentially earn hundreds of millions from cheating that has sporting consequences, allowing them to only have a points deduction after that seems worthwhile for the club
You need to get a refund on that crstal ball 🔮

I can see that it's technically against the spirit of the game. I just don't think it makes much difference. I am allowed that opinion. Apparently I should just agree with the majority...
Its not just against the spirit of the game it is against the rules of the efl due to carrying a sporting advantage

I’m not sure what they do now. There’s going to be 35,000+ Southampton fans booking travel and hotels in London today. It’s going to be carnage.

I don’t think they know what they are going to do either - this is the problem when they put a rule in place but don’t bother including details of punishment for anyone breaking it.

They have massively shot themselves in the foot.

I think ultimately Southampton have a massive squad that showed, Boro not having Hackney was unfortunate too

I guess they could automatically promote Hull. Which would just be funny all round given they finished 6th and snuck into the play offs.

Interesting angle that Boro are apparently gathering evidence from other clubs to say it has been rife throughout the season

Natural reaction is its worse and strengthens the case, alternative angle is it makes it difficult for EFL to pin point only Boro have suffered and therefore they should benefit v other clubs

Not saying it will but could another complication or even give the EFL a way out ie we will punish Southampton with a points deduction next time they are in the championship as too many other clubs suffered a detriment and therefore potentially involved

There’s no way Southampton will be in the premier league next season. It will go one of 2 ways -

A) boro play hull in the final which will need to be sorted out within 48hrs really.

B) Southampton play hull in the final and even if Southampton win they’ll be demoted and hull will go up.

Unfair on Boro if Southampton are denied promotion but allowed to go to Wembley. If disqualified, that needs to happen now.

Efl will have to move sharpish if any punishment as they cant do any punishment when promoted asbits a different league amd governing body. Possible punishment if they are relegated again in the future.

Can only see a big fine myself

EFL are fucked whatever they do here.

Kick them out and legal battle with Southampton (not to mention the protocols allowing internal appeals by Southampton before any formal legal action)

Don’t kick them out and legal challenge from Boro

Other clubs looking at any potential opportunities from a legal sense

I do agree with that but it depends on where things are with the evidence I suppose. If the evidence is clear pending an investigation then yeah definitely, if it’s currently at the stage of ‘they def cheated but let’s just find this for you then they can’t really hold Southampton back on them grounds I wouldn’t have thought.

Not saying it’s right but my money would be on a big fine and points deduction next time they are in the championship (which of course could be next season)

Legal battles incoming regardless
