The reaction to the game

I get we have been bad the last few games but do people remember where we were and how long we were there for? I wasn’t around on here for the Howard Wilkinson or mic Mac days, was everyone as knee jerk and reactive then? Some mental comments on here today
No internet in those days mate.
You couldn't hide behind a keyboard.

Dear God, yet another ‘ be thankful for your lot, remember where we were ( insert time period) and keep your mouths shut and accept being a cuckold’ thread.
Totalitarian humility!
People engage on a fans SM webpage and express their dissatisfaction. Is that so heinous?
Every time we get a metaphorical kick in the nads we just smile and say thanks for reminding me we were shite 5 years ago ?

Some people are more comfortable complaining and ranting.
Praising or enjoying something is uncomfortable.

Hence a raft of f***ing colossal eedjits appear from nowhere. Frothing. It’s always the same on this esteemed forum.

HTL.

Instant and persistent gratification required. Getting beat or not playing like prime Brazil, is the equivalent of being told, No.

People take it as being personally slighted and they just can't handle it. The precious darlings haven't got the skills to cope.
That may be. However as a club, we must always strive for better. Accepting mediocrity is what helped contribute to our previous mess, apathy is the last thing we need.

Overall, we've exceeded expectations, but when you consider the position we were (prior to Wolves) and still are in, qualifying for Europe has to be the new target surely. If not, what's the point of competing?

MicMac for example:

UK net migration 2025: 204,000
UK net migration 2003: 211,846

People weren't shagging flags and painting roundabouts in 2003

There's a correlation.
Access to the smartphones has made people dumber

Out of the last 3 games the worst overall performance was Forest
Not many teams will score 3 goals at Villa & lose
We did well to get a point yesterday considering how long we played with ten men

A well earned point by the sounds of every match report I’ve read. Dug in deep with 10 men for 80% of the game, not sure what the fuss is.

Fair assessment. They struggled at periods during the match, but finished strongly.Away from home, fown to 10 men after 20 minutes. I agree, well earned point.

If the ref didn't have a bet on Wolves we'd have won the game. He was utter shite yesterday, and not just for Ballard's red. Cirkin getting a card for slipping over, whilst Wolves players only getting cautions for persistent fouling. Brobbey getting manhandled multiple times (again) and a sheer reluctance from the ref to give anything his way, which resulted in a cheer from our lot when he did eventually blow for a foul!

A point away from home should never be sniffed at in this league, so to come away with a point with a man down, and some very piss poor officiating was a decent enough result in the end.

I don’t think message boards are a bad idea in theory, but the way they work tends to amplify negativity. The loudest and most critical opinions get the most attention, and that becomes the tone of the whole place. What people forget is that players do see this stuff. My mate knows one of our recently departed players very well and he was affected by the level of criticism online. It’s easy to treat it as harmless venting, but it does carry over to the real world. I tend to stay away from the match day threads if I can, they have become unbelievably toxic over the last few weeks. It’s much better anyway just watching the match rather than the modern way of tapping away at a phone or tablet, posting endless bile.
