Worst home defeat at SoL

Don’t worry, about a thing, cos every little thing is gonna be alright.. Foam clappy hands out.. The bairn will get used to it mate. I said to my 14 year old tonight, typical Sunderland, we will get pumped. It’s just the way it is 😉

I reckon Alex Neil coming back and f***ing us 5-1 was worse. Didnt Blackburn do us for five in our rudderless Championship season as well? That was canny shit.

Short memories.

We're Premier League and we're safe. It wasnt like we were outclassed it was a clusterfuck of bad luck, some bad defending and some individual errors. Put it in the bin and move on.

Nearly every home League One defeat felt loads worse than that too.

Seen some fella shouting abuse at the bench coz his bairn was crying at 4-0

Watched f***ing Chris Maguire score a hat trick against us after leaving in League One alone was worse than that ffs.

Chris Maguire gave a fuck about our club and didn’t celebrate until he realised the hamster was on the touchline to be fair to him

The list of teams to have stuck five past us in recent seasons at home is shocking like.Coventry.Stoke ,Blackburn and now Forest hardly football world powerhouses that lot like.

It was a strange game. We just collapsed an everything they hit went in. But we weren’t battered 5 nil if that makes sense. It wasn’t like some classy team came and steamrollered us. If you look at the stats you’d think it was 5 nowt the other way 🤷🏻‍♂️ just have to move on

No where near the worst defeat though mind.

The 3 - 0 defeat against Aston Villa in the Championship 2017/18 was the worst imo. Steve Bruce as manager, our top goal scorer of the season scoring against us and just a utter shit display topped with an own goal with what felt like 15k people there. Felt like the death of the club that night.

Most home games that season were much much worse.

I don't know how they worked it out (there are other threads on the subject) but the match stats especially xG make for interesting reading...
