Dan Neil

Dan Neil now has to look after Dan Neil by performances on the pitch. Making himself first name on the team sheet. It doesn't seem to me that he's doing any such thing.

What people don’t take into account is that Neil didn’t kick a ball for 6 month then was in and out of a bang average Ipswich side.

Players can’t get into any sort of rhythm in that situation.

Always nice to see a local lad make a decent career for himself like.

Having said that Dan Neil will never be a Premier League player. I’m actually surprised a team as high up as Ipswich went for him in the first place, although I guess he was seen as more of a rotation option than a starter.

Tidy player, good on the ball and able to do a few different roles in the centre of the park. He's a decent central midfield player. A lot of football fans dont seem to know what a central midfielder does. Even the likes of Xhaka, Simone and Deschamps had their detractors in the past.

I see he came on after 70 minutes earlier tonight with Jack Clarke. Brilliant options off the bench for that level…

If Luke Onien can play in the prem then Dan Niel could no worries.
We'd be relegation fodder by Xmas with them both in the team

He was never going to be 1st name on the team sheet, in the premier league, he got lucky playing for his boyhood team, in the 1st division, if he'd played anywhere else, he'd have been found out as soon as he reached the championship, never mind the premier league

How is he doing?
Will Ipswich take him if they go up or will Man Utd and Liverpool come back in for him?

But neil isn't that is he. He is a leader now though but lacks awareness

Some Dumbos on here thought Xhaka had a poor game v Spurs.
…. nonetheless this place did give Neil more MOTMs last season than anyone else, so the majority DO know what they are looking at.

What a cheap shot.
Did he produce those rumours? … no
Why was it him ? …. Because he had potential.
Who ever said he was good enough for those teams squads ? … no one
Why are you so cynical about the local lad who led his home team to the premiership? … only you can answer that one.

Isn’t what 🤷🏻

Shouldn’t have to be said.
He will come back be a top player for a championship side next season

I literally DO NOT understand why people still have a go at Dan Neil. He played massive parts in two promotions to the Premier League. I’d get it if people were saying we should build a PL team around him now. But we recruited well and got better, so he literally did his job. Anyone now thinking that they’ve somehow been “proven right” about him, well you haven’t, you were proven wrong on May 24th 2025. Because the “detractors” on here said he wasn’t good enough to get promoted and deep down that’s what they believed when slagging him off.

And btw. His main pitfall “gives the ball away.” Granit Xhaka also gives the ball away.

Should have stopped at first sentence
Reason is so they can say “ see I told you I was right “( look it’s me !)
( I never stopped posting it )
Im delighted I’m right even though I agree he’s a Sunderland fan and loved the club he captained at a young age -played his part to get us where we are now .

Why do people care about being right? Do they think Kyril is going to knock other door and offer them a job due to their “superior knowledge” 😆

Did he do it for free?

Plus hes not the reason we got promoted. People trying to rewtite history as if he was pivotal when he was one of the weak links

Rewriting history… try these facts of history:
1. Captained the side to promotion
2. Played more minutes than any other player
3. Was awarded more MOTM on this very forum than anyone else last season
4. Is credited by the likes of Rigg for being a massive help to him.
5. Took on a new pivotal centre mid role he had to learn as he played the season … last year was his first season in that role. Replacing at the club a bloke like Evans and far more reliable than likes Ekwah
6. You dont understand what you were watching … why do you think RLB thought him as pivotal, he made him captain, gave him the holding role and gave him more minutes than Bellingham, and that’s saying something
They play and rate jack Taylor
Makes no sense to me

Your pushing for promotion, you can take a Dan Neil for nothing as insurance against key player injuries etc … it’s a no brainer
