The big positive today

Disagree that it was a world class save. All he had to do was lift his hand up.

It was a piss poor attempt from a piss poor player.
Give over.
“All he had to do was lift his hand up”……oh dearie me.
It was a very good instinctive save.

And it wasn’t a “piss poor attempt”.
If it had dinked over Martinez (which 7/8 times out of 10 against most keepers, it would have) it would have been hailed as a cool finish.
And while I am not Diarra’s biggest fan, he is 22 and far from piss poor.

3 excellent goals from 3 different players in a season where goals have been our biggest problem.

With our first team CB partnership, we win that game today.

Very unlucky that Diarra didn’t score also, he did everything right but it was a world class save from one of the world’s best one on one keepers.

Rigg’s goal was world class, the touch and finish. If he carries on playing with this kind of confidence it’ll be like a new signing.

Enjoyed it, good game of football and could have went either way. Unfortunately we lost to a more polished / ruthless side.

To be completing at this level is worlds away from where we’ve been and my expectations

Very sensible post. Will never catch on.

It was a very good save but it wasn't world class. You don't try and dink the ball over a keeper who's stood up, surely we learnt that when isidor tried it at anfield.

Im still too pissed off at the result to think rationally but us conceeding immediately made diarra not scoring infinitely worse, which obviously isn't his fault

I'm feeling more confident than ever before 💃🏻💖💃🏻

My head would be scrambled egg tbf if we were losing 3-1 and i was suddenly through on goal to win the match. I'm fine with it.

Its gutting but to come back like we did against a team who are currently top of their game and pushing Champions League is amazing and lets not forget we did this away.

So much is put on our home form but we have finally set up a good rhythm away.

We can easily get at least 9 points out of our last few games. Whether that's enough for Europe who knows. Just be grateful we haven't spent a season being losing every game which lets be honest.. is what we were all terrified off last May.

Hume's goal was vintage Mbappe.
I've been wanting him to score all season just to shut his critics up. Didn't he rob Sancho for the third goal as well?
Pity though it didn't have a happy end.

You will note that I didn’t say it was world class. I said it was “a very good instinctive save” (as opposed to just sticking his hand up)

Couldn’t agree more

🔴⚪️ Few sides in Europe go to Villa Park and give Aston Villa as good a game as that. Goes to show just how far Sunderland have come - and how established a Premier League club they are now.

⚽️ Brilliant to see both Chris Rigg and Trai Hume get their first Premier League goals too - as well as Wilson Isidor back on the scoresheet.

✅ Plenty of momentum heading into the final few games of what’s been a super first season back in the top flight.

Your average Premier League keeper doesn’t save that.

He was already going down the other way, split second to make that adjustment and get his fingers to it.

That’s why he’s one of the best, very difficult to beat one on one. Possibly has one of the best saves in history to his name.
Possibly one of the best saves he's ever made? Come on, he just stood his ground
