This. At that point in time all i wanted was a steady championship side where i could watch promising kids develop in a well managed financially sound set up. I had no desire at all for PL. In fact that league had been proved to be a dangerous financial nonsense to me . All hail KLD .Think you’ve misinterpreted “competing for the playoffs, as “competing in the playoffs”.
I didn’t say they were in it, but at one point they were doing really well in the league and looking likely to qualify. And at that point even being an upper mid-table, secure championship team was something I would have snapped your hand off for.
And thisI despise Coventry hope they go straight back down
They are after Patto too.Isn’t Dan Neil one of their top targets? Not to start a Dan Neil argument here, but if he’s the type of player they’re going to recruit then it’s only gonna end one way and they’ll be back in the Championship after a season.
Hopefully they are well and truly relegated by the time we play at the sol. Maybe then, fewer of their neanderthal c_unt fans will make the journey north.Watch them be our first game of the season..
Hopefully its at home.
He'll be gutted he cant rip off away fans with extortionate ticket prices any more.Unless they sign a Granit Xhaka type and spend big money they'll go back down. Doug King has already stated they'll not have a major overhaul so they might aswell not bother next season
He’ll be a Leeds or Man Utd charging under 16s 29 quid type. Was it 48 quid last season or something? It was too much for me to take the bairn in league game! Luckily the play offs were price matched throughoutHe'll be gutted he cant rip off away fans with extortionate ticket prices any more.
I hate everything about Coventry.
I think the three of them would make it a tough league. Southampton and Ipswich we know will spend money.I think Southampton will be the 3rd team promoted. I’m sure they along with Ipswich will have learned lessons from last time and make a better go at staying up.
Welcome home, James Madison...![]()
He'd just burst out laughingWelcome home, James Madison...![]()
Not sure where the confidence about them comes from. Last season Southampton very nearly beat Derbys record for worst ever team and ipswich spent £100m on players not good enough for the PL.I think the three of them would make it a tough league. Southampton and Ipswich we know will spend money.
I suspect Coventry will have learnt from us and Leeds and attack the foreign markets to try and improve their squads. You know they’ll be up for the games against us as well.
You should be more worried about them than usI don’t think it’s wise to assume you are miles ahead of them. You’ve had a decent season but the argument could easily be made that you guys
1. were the surprise package
2. Had momentum and the tailwind of a entire city behind you
3. Had a relatively generous opening fixture list
4. Overperformed against key metrics (if you believe in the data scientists that are running the game)
I say all this not to be a twat but just to excercise some caution. We came up under Bielsa and did brilliantly in our first season but soon fell away in 2&3. Of course we bought badly or underinvested at critical times and you seem to have a sensible owner and top DoF
It may not happen (and I actually hope it doesn’t) but 2nd season syndrome is a thing and we should both therefore look to avoid any complacency
Ah Sunderland are only doing well because BingoI don’t think it’s wise to assume you are miles ahead of them. You’ve had a decent season but the argument could easily be made that you guys

"Sighs"I know many on here have no love for Coventry, but the fan I watched the playoffs semi with in paphos with last year was dead sound, and very magnanimous even after the Ballard goal and me and another MLF squeeling like school girls and jumping around the bar, so I’m actually glad for them.
But the point I came to make, was that at one point when we were in doldrums of league one, I remember looking enviously up the pyramid at Cov, with them having flown the nest and competing for the playoffs in the championship, and I remember dreaming about how one day that could be us again.
Well, they’ve done it and got promoted, and they’ve done it in a reasonable timeframe too for a team that’s worked its way up from league one. But look how far ahead of them we are now.
If you’d have told me back then, that we would be mid table in the prem this year, having taken 6 points off the mags, I wouldn’t have believed you. There is nothing you could have told me that would have made me believe you.
It’s absolutely mental how well KLD, and the team have done.
Thank you once again from all those involved, these last few years have been ace!
Gan and shit in your bucket.I don’t think it’s wise to assume you are miles ahead of them. You’ve had a decent season but the argument could easily be made that you guys

The Cov fan I work with never fails to mention how lucky we’re were against them and Sheff Utd.
Might be hard to get a team of newly arrived foreign players "up" enough to take us . Fat Frank is no Regis , Coventry is no SunderlandI think the three of them would make it a tough league. Southampton and Ipswich we know will spend money.
