No chance they've had loads of requests for defoe and Reid thats more than the people selecting their 14 anyway.

Highly doubtful. They've just gone with what they want and get more people who can attend the unveiling.

If they were just going with what they wanted, why wouldn't they have put Defoe and Reid in the options as that would have been more likely to get them picked?

It's recency bias. Rightly or wrongly, most of our fans won't have a clue who Jimmy Thorpe is.

The list of people chosen are literally the most obvious ones you could think of which suggests either an ignorance amongst our fans of our history or loads of younguns voting.
