Mine was exactly the same. Palace away which was my first match of the season. The players seemed at a minimum as capable and physically strong and quick as the Palace ones and were obviously mentally strong enough.
Alderete, Roefs, Sadiki, Diarra and Xhaka really impressed me that day in particular and all seemed incredible signings.
I did however have doubts about Reinildo’s temperament that day and he still concerns me a bit, though he’s a cracking player.
When Brobbey came on I couldn’t understand what type of player he was nor how he’d fit in. He stood out like a sore thumb in comparison to the other signings, but as he’d only just arrived I hoped he would settle…which he has of course and then some!

At the same time we have rarely looked comfortable when Xhaka hasn’t started or not played
All ifs, buts, maybes but I dread to think how we would have gone on without him
We can give kudos to coaching team but his presence on the park Cant be underestimated in terms of ability, leadership and organisation
