When Man U had Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez. Around late 2000s to early 2010s? After that Pep took over and football became more robotic.

Probably down to my age but 1990 World Cup for me, was 8 year old and still get goosebumps when I hear the theme tune , at club level the Dennis smith era was when I really got into Sunderland and the players seemed like gods to me

Really difficult one as I think many of us will have a bias for the era we were around 8-14 or around then as that’s the age you tend to view players as “icons”. Maybe even from younger. So naturally, Football seems more magical.

I personally think late 90’s early 2000’s before diving and play acting in general became so common but the standard of pitches, stadiums and the football had improved to a point where it was more enjoyable
That’s when I was a kid and can literally not see an argument to say Anything other than that era from 97/2005. The 98 World Cup was full of unbelievable players just look at them
France n Brazil teams man. Then arsenal n Ann utds teams in the prem. then ya headache Milan’s team n players coming through like messi ronaldo Rooney etc in the early 2000s. Even ac Milan’s team in the 2005 champions league how Liverpool managed to come back from that I’ll never know.
