Harrison Jones To Leave Club

Bloody hell, you are like a cracked record, and wrong. Yes, teams are mixing football up but all footballers need to be able to pass, receive and maintain possession. Defenders will always have to maintain possession. Man City are the best team at the moment and possession is key for them. Arsenal mix it up but every player, including the keeper, needs to be comfortable in possession. You want our academy teams to not teach defenders how to maintain possession through passing and that is a sure fire way to deny them a career in football. I watched South Shields recently and their defdenders were comofrtable in possession and passing short. Its bizarre how wrong you are. As for producing good youngsters I would suggest that Rigg, Watson and Young is a pretty good haul but now we are in the Premier League the standards are increased.

Academies are judged on how may players they progress to the professional game rather than just who plays in the Prem or internationally. We seem to do pretty well.
Wants us to go back to 1970s and just hoof the fucka about.

Might make it in league one - good luck son
Harsh, I thought he didn’t look out of place most of the time he came on in the championship.

I would be shocked if he makes it to the prem level, but he’ll be a decent squad player for a mid table championship team next season like Boro.

A tidy footballer and a really nice lad. He'll get the chance of a career in pro football somewhere. Good luck Harrison.
Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in the Championship. Could see a team in the bottom half of the table taking a punt on him for free.
One of those players who seems to become very comfortable at u21 level and never really pushed for a chance in senior football. Don't know if he had many loan opportunities, but his path reminded me a lot of Ethan Robson / George Honeyman who probably spent a little too long in the u21s and should have tried their luck with a loan to play proper mens football sooner.

He's 21 now and has made 7 senior appearances. Like others have said, i hope he values game time over the level of side he signs for as a full season playing league 2 would be far more beneficial than signing for a l1/championship side as a prospect who doesn't get on the pitch. His next move will determine if he manages a decent career or not. Another few years of no football and he could find himself struggling for opportunities
I've always felt it quite strange that the club never loaned him out.

Always looked like a decent player for the youth teams, but never that close to the first team. It's odd that they chose to keep him around playing against teenagers for the U21s instead of getting him some proper experience elsewhere.

We're a lot better than we were 10 years ago. And whatever the reasons for our relative success/failure, playing out from the back is very little to do with it. It's far more attributable to our catchment area being away from the truly big conurbations of the NW, Midlands and London

We don't have a good record of producing defenders tbh. Last centre half we produced of any impact was Dickie Ord nearly 40 years ago
Henry Fieldson has been doing really well at Queen's Park, absolutely loads of clubs after him apparently.

Good luck to him. Didn't look out of place in the Championship, albeit may have to drop to L1 or Scotland for regular game time. Needs to bulk up, but is a tidy player

Don’t want to put the lad down but I’d surprised if he makes it above league 1 level to be honest.

Talk of him playing in the championship seems miles off right now given he’s only made four league appearances for us totalling something like 130 minutes. The two games he started in the Champo we lost, and honestly I feel he was out of his depth at the time.

Hopefully proves me wrong but not sure what people have seen to suggest he could make it at that level any time soon.

Proper sentimental but I hope we give him a runout before the end of the season, Been unlucky that we’ve always had injuries so he could never get out on loan and was just a back up bench player for us.
I hope he doesn’t. It’s not the right mentality.
Did anyone want him?
He was due out on Jan but got injured.

I’d imagine he’d have easily got to a northern league team just like other lads are doing now.

Maybe that league one/champ transition screwed him a bit and he was just a couple of year too old to reap the rewards of being in the prem.

I think others now will get a much clearer development now that we’re in the prem.

He made 4 appearances. Two as a late sub and two starts in dead rubber games that we lost (he was also subbed in those games). I think you’re imagining things

Good luck to him. Am sure he'll find a decent club and have a fair career. We just quickly grew beyond him.

Haha no I don't want us to play suicide football. There's a time and place to play. And I'm sorry you'll have those saying they are allowed to make mistakes because it's only kids football. These lads have been in the Academy system since 7 or 8 years of age, u18s is where the demands should be placed on them to win. They are only 1 step from senior football at that age.
