James Trafford as replacement for Roefs?

Obviously wants to leave City for first team football, been linked away for £27m this week. Would he be a decent option to spend a chunk of the Roefs money on

Would be home gown, only 23 year old, and obviously PL experience. There’s a reason City and the Mags wanted him last summer.

Presume we’d have to fight with a few PL clubs, including the mags?, but not sure any of the big champions league sides will be after him so could come down to wages and where he sees the club going.

Could have Elborg as back up with the opportunity to really grow and learn for a season or two.

I don’t think he’s amazing by any stretch. But would be a better option currently than ellborg is. Especially if we come out in big profit

He’s a good keeper but there will be a bit of a bidding war for both the transfer fee and wages I feel.
I am sure if Roefs does move on then we will be focused on finding another one like him rather than the obvious one like Trafford.

We aren't in the market for Premier League players. Rightly so, there's far better value abroad.

But the biggest profit to be made is selling young english players to top PL teams because of home grown quotas...

Not saying it's trafford but we will have to buy English players eventually like.
Vague whiff of Rodwell
Pretty harsh when he's made it properly known he's not staying at City because he wants to play football like. Very opposite of that cretin.

1. Home grown players are too expensive for the model
2. Our academy is our source of HG players let over teams spaff their millions on them, we already have two academy GKs coming through the system now who’ll get in the first team at some point, get Elborg up to speed this season, and before you know it Young will be competing with him.
3. Who knows Roefs will probably end up staying anyway

We do need to keep our quota of "homegrown" players though - probably not Premier League signings but we need some players in the squad not from abroad. Roefs has been a key to our success this season, so if we did lose him that would be a massive loss.

(If Liverpool or Chelsea scouts are watching this, he is a sicknote, always injured, flaps at crosses and is useless with his feet)
