SAFC - Fan Ban & Ticket Cancellations

we have supporters groups, like RAWA and ticketing sub-group (what ever they are called) and the fans liason committee, plus supporters associations and multiple fanzines and the likes... All of which are completely powerless.

This forum is the only place people can actually publicly document thier experiences
Aye maybe. But it’s just yelling at clouds really.

Is there anything to stop the more vocal on here from getting on RAWA or joining the ticketing sub-group and maybe radicalising them a bit? Bring out change from within?

I’m afraid the only mass protests can be at games imho.

The ultimate being voting with feet & not going.

Given the torrid times we’ve all seen over the years ( including the T Cowie days when sometimes our away support was less than 100), we still go, sing about our feelings ( sack the board etc) but turn up regardless.

Even now people are utilising personal contacts to challenge the clubs decision on SAFC2012….. who ya kna etc etc.

The club & players talk about being proud to represent the area/community, but there is a clear gap in the circle, especially around “customer” service.

As I’m sure KLD etc aren’t fully aware of the range of issues, the upper hierarchy need to impose a top down strategic review with a clear set of objectives & PUBLIC consultation. Then publicise their M O going forward.

Just IMHO

I couldn't buy Wolves tickets over the weekend as it said my account was limited to 0 tickets.

By the time they replied to my email, they'd put the rest of tickets on sale to the next phase and sold them all. I got a message yesterday saying they'd fixed the problem but the game was now sold out.

Happened to me as well, luckily on Monday I tried again and it worked. If you are planning on bringing it up to complain, AskSAFC sent me an email saying “Thank you for your email.

Please be advised that it is not possible to purchase match tickets using your own customer ID number. Each individual attending the game must have their own unique ID number. Kindly register their details on our website to enable the purchase of additional tickets.

Kind Regards

Ticekt Office”

Laughable 😂

Mass protests? Give over man. Imagine the club being the most successful it's been in over a decade and people are talking about mass protests. The off the field stuff needs to improve no doubt, and this situation in particular is dicey to say the very least, but the only place you hear talk of protests and people being unhappy is on here. And contrary to what people thing, RTG makes up a very small % of our fanbase and the feeling amongst it. I'm fairly certain the majority of the fanbase won't even have a clue what this situation is let alone protest because of it.

I agree there has to be a better way to raise issues, concerns and anything else going forward but people are going on like we're the worst ran club in the world man.

I thought everyone had to have an active season ticket with the required points on (in you situation, from what I can see is you would’ve required a season ticket with 25+ points) to purchase tickets for the Wolverhampton Wanderers away game as that was the phase on Monday.

How would registering as a new member on Monday help you buy a ticket for an away game?

Have the rules changed again?

Why wouldn't they give a toss?
They are obviously Sunderland fans..more of a Sunderland fan than having no one there.
They may want to go to all games but can't get tickets. They may be a mate from down south who could go at very short notice when the original ticket buyer went ill that morning
iirc, oxford sold out on pretty high points. we got less than the league game last season. it's extremely doubtful they entertained the idea of going anywhere pre wembley.
there's people on here pissed off at missing out with quite high points for games. it's those who i'm concerned about and i can understand their frustration.

As one of the international fans attending this weekend, I along with the many others attending are extremely fortunate and eternally grateful for the itinerary we get.

Most of the international fans are part of international branches who do a hell of a lot of work in the countries they live in.

For example, German Black Cats organised a load of stuff for fans who travelled to Augsburg as well as doing presentations on Sunderland AFC in relation to the links with Essen in Germany. Their members attend several home games a season.

The Black Cats of Italy organise a weekend party every June for SAFC fans on lake Iseo. They also raise money through different events for charities such as the Bradley Lowery foundation. They also attend several home games a season.

The North American branch are active in USA, Canada and Mexico organising meetups for every match as well as appearing on TV channels over there banging the SAFC drum. Some of their members get over several times a season.

The Bulgarian branch are active in Sofia and organise meetups in the Irish bars there. Attend several home games a season.

Our Bilbao branch has re-established long lost links between SAFC & Athletic Club Bilbao and the two cities. We also organised a junior football tournament with 300 kids between 9-13 years old to promote Sunderland AFC and the English language. Our members get over a fair bit every season. One even has a season ticket and goes to most weekend home games.

I also started the Black Cats Chat International Fans Podcast to encourage international fans and branches to give their views on all things SAFC as well as connect fans from all over the world.

I can certainly understand the frustration of fans who have been season ticket holders for many years and go home and away. I do feel there should be some sort of gesture for that loyalty.

To sum up, it would be wrong to assume that fans attending international fans day come over just for that event. Many fans and branches organise several trips to the SOL throughout the season and do a lot of work promoting SAFC in their countries.
And don’t forget the time you helped out loads of fans stuck after the Forest pre-season game in Pinatar, organising taxi’s etc.

Folk may remember the club put the games on in Pinatar having having originally announced the games in the Alicante/Benidorm area over a couple of hours away and then said there wasn’t enough interest for the club to organise buses, leaving 100’s of fans to sort out their own transport. This lad stayed behind after the game for a few hours making sure all fans had transport back to their digs as some had come straight from the airport to the match and no way of getting back.

I should have been clearer, but my thinking was unfurling banners & anything associated to tv. I understand these have worked at some clubs on certain issues.

However, I do think your comment on the majority of the fanbase being unaware is not accurate.

Worst ran club in the world ????? I wouldn’t know & don’t care- just want ours to be as good as possible…. & failing atm

Any chance of you providing that link to where we can all buy away tickets?

That was an absolute disgrace that mind. I was there but thankfully the shields branch sorted us out. Can remember there being some talk in with Speakman where someone challenged him and everyone in the crowd just laughed about it.

Nah it got sorted on the Monday, the club emailed back to say they’d gave the wrong advice they thought I meant home games rather than away games and they’re investigating the error message I received.

No help on this occasion but for future reference. I’ve had this for a few games recently, I’ve got 92 points, the solution I’ve found was to get someone in your network to buy them and assign them to you….. no idea why it would work that way but not for the actual ticket holder mind!

We have a fans group RAWA who took what felt like an eternity to issue any public statement about the 65, no mention about resales not available, no mention of not announcing phases for Wolves, no mention of restrictions for Man U and so on.

The ticket office and those managing it/controlling it arent fit for purpose.
RAWA are a toothless tiger, I’ve no axe to grind with them but I’m certainly not impressed with their input.

Some of us have tried tackling the club directly (and persistently), as well as trying to highlight the issue to the wider fan base. I've asked about joining the ticketing sub-group but - as is often the case - just keep getting out-of-office messages back from Chris Waters.

I'm told that RAWA were persistent in asking questions of the club before they finally received a statement they could share publicly.

However, that statement was weak and gave little clarity on the situation - I am hoping that using RAWA are using their influence to follow this up right now as well as in planned meetings. It's not an issue that is going to go away and as long we have one loyal, hard-working, branch secretary banned from games, nor should it.

RAWA were created to provide the clubs supporters with greater strength and presence (through numbers) in raising fans concerns directly and openly with the club.

Given the serious concerns many of us have around the long-term failings of our ticketing operation (and associated customer service) I feel this is EXACTLY the sort of issue they need to be strong and determined on. It may be they are doing more behind the scenes (and not every action and discussion can be shared openly in the public domain) but their lack of regular updates and general communication on this has been very disappointing.

@Becs - may I ask you to pass my comments on to the main RAWA group, please? It may be that others want their feelings to be shared too. This thread may be a good place to start.

Aye there was that as well 😅

Think it was 50 fans I arranged private transfers from Benidorm/Alicante and back and then made sure others, who didn't have any booked transport back to their accomodation, got taxis with a reasonable price.

There was also the arguing with the Spanish security staff who wouldn't let in a couple with a baby because they wouldn't allow access with baby milk bottles. After relentless arguing in Spanish I managed to speak to head of security and he acknowledged the security guard was in the wrong and let them in.

No staff member from the club was on hand at the gate to assist. I wrote a full report to the Supporters Liaison Officer highlighting the issues and the failings. Whether that got discussed in meetings, I don't know.

That's absolutely brilliant mate, I'm really pleased you highlighted a different perspective to that day, I had no idea about any of that - but I'm chuffed our team / club can have that impact abroad.

For the 2nd match Vs Eldense, @superhans1 was also giving me a hand flagging taxis to get fans back to their accomodation

Given the nature of this thread, what has happened to SAFC2012 and the forum rules, I think it’s pretty tasteless to be asking on here for links to illegally sold tickets.
Yeah but any chance of the links you were talking about. You were pretty adamant it was easy to get away tickets from external links. Or another post of shit from you? 😂😂😂
