SAFC - Fan Ban & Ticket Cancellations

Getting increasingly likely.

Just like the AoL is opened uo and big thing made of International Fans Day. Travel length and bredth of country every week and get sweet FA. In fact get banned for 3 years.

The next time they celebrate XXX from [INSERT FAR FLUNG COUNTRY HERE] being at an away game I hope they get pelters.

(the club, not one of our fans obviously).

Haway, its only a social media post. 99% of those reading it won't have a clue about what's happened.

As much as I think they've made an example of him and really hope he overturns his ban. Its a bit silly to be having pops at the media team who won't be anything to do with this.

Fair enough your entitled to your opinion but if I was one of the people effected I'd take it a personal "fuck you" ... It's an absolute piss take and they media team know exactly what they are doing..

Their stupid little mottos couldn't be any further from that truth..a few of us have been saying it for years and one by one others are starting to realise it too.

Just wait till you need something or the club takes issue with you , you'll realise how them claiming to "reward the obsessed" , be the" caring community club" , "fan centric " and all the other bollocks is the exact opposite of how they actually behave and how they actually view us

Sad thing for them is, we've been here longer than them we'll be here long after they've gone

Oh I don't disagree. Its all buzzwords and PR managed. I also know the club won't give a toss if I encounter any issues. I suppose I just don't take anything they post as genuine or serious, thats probably what I'm getting at.

either by knowing one of the players or coaching staff, or having enough money to have paid themselves to the front of the queue via coorperate sponsors
or be sat next to a mate of a mate on the reserve list of a branch experiencing their first game since tommy watson scored at wembley like at oxford sitting next to us.

If they are an actual Sunderland fan then I've not really a problem with that . A genuine Sunderland fan in the away end..heaven forbid

It's absolutely not in the same hemisphere as the cousin of one of the coaches, who has absolutely no passion or interest in Sunderland other than their mate happens to work there currently

someone who had zero points getting a ticket ahead of others? that doesn't sit right with me tbh and i'm not shocked to see you have no problem with someone who has travelled to a fair few away games miss out to someone who doesn't and by any stretch of the imaginanion deserve one over them. as it happens i know the person who was at oxford and it was all day wrong.
like you and others say there's those who have done plenty of miles in the lower leagues and deserve them. didn't seem to happen in this case purely because of who they knew, it's no different to your gripe about corporate except it's 'fan' v fan. it's all very hypocritical.

I never said I had no problem with it

I said I have a much less of a problem with it than I have with club staff friends and sponsors etc...

At least the passed on ticket is going to a genuine Sunderland fan

As long as the club facilitate and have no problem with 100s of tickets going to people who aren't even Sunderland fans , I won't find a big problem with passing the odd ticket to Thier Sunderland supporting mate

I don’t think different parts of that club talk to each other.
Marketing clearly deals with appealing to the emotions of fans , ticketing deals with screwing the fans and pissing them off.
I wonder it Mr Dreyfus sits and looks at it and thinks, Mr ticket office manager you are counteracting everything good we are doing …. communicate better you incompetent fool and respect the customer

but the passed on ticket went to someone who didn't give a toss, has contributed absolutely bugger all to the club apart from a weekend down london. i don't think they even went to games in the years previous to that. is it right they get a ticket for a 'sold out' game over someone who missed out by a couple of points?

The international fans day is starting to do my head in. And im not meaning to be critical of those that come over. Follow a couple on twitter/x and they seem great.

But they get behind the scenes access that people that have followed the club for decades home and away never get. Some get to repeatedly go on the pitch at half time.

Wouldnt it be nice if they offered these perks to some of our loyalist fans who have had season tickets for decades sticking through the club in the darkest of times. Instead they cancel mags away tickets from people who have done nothing wrong and ban someone who has committed what is likely to be thousands of hours helping fellow fans out for zero financial gain.

I mean that just cries of jealousy, do a stadium tour if you want to do that stuff.
The club do a fair few things wrong but IFD isn’t one of them.

I can remember a couple of things they’ve done. Norwich 2003 the 340 who qualified for a ticket also got a tour of the academy.

A couple of years ago the top 150 on LPs got a meet and greet with Mowbray (I think) in Quinn’s too.

Admittedly two in 22 years but they have happened!

There's a sad fact in all of this and I think it relates to clubs at all levels - the more loyal the supporter, the more contemptuous football clubs are towards them (particularly when their main source of income is the TV cash).

It's like insurance companies or gyms who whack up the annual price for long-standing customers - who'll sign-up again regardless - whilst offering discounts & incentives to those who go shopping around very 12 months. Loyalty in many industry's is a weakness of the consumer - as company's believe it's far better to spend their marketing budget on persuading the 'not sures' to come through the door, rather than worry about the dafty's who'll keep showing up regardless.

In the long-term that's bad business, especially when a club like ours should be thinking about the next generation of fans, in a world where there's plenty of alternatives to spending a cold Tuesday night shivering in the sub-zero seats in the lower East Stand.

I hope that KLD and his advisors can see that his long-term business model relies on the hardcore and he needs to invest in them as the foundation of our support. The ban given to @SAFC2012 suggests that no such long-term thinking is being applied when it comes to our ticketing policies & attitudes right now.
