No idea where to put this post. Pubs, restaurants, future Sunderland threads. No idea so sticking in here. I’m not from “the town” as such always lived in Seaham/Houghton areas but Sunderland has always been our “town” but I did stop spending a lot of and money there it just didn’t have much going on. But it has now, just want to share the love really.
Yesterday spent the day in the town ending up at the Firestation for Alabama 3. What a class day.
Taxi dropped us at the Bridge Tavern, the brown ale was delicious great bar. Long walk up to kingshead bouncing what a gem of a bar, Guinness was great. Isis next, love this place. Dun Cow absolute jewel in the crown. Mexico 70 for scran, delicious and cool as hell, back to its best for me. Missed out the Peacock people finishing of Sunday lunches. Keel tavern very impressive great beer choices.
Firestation gig was great what a venue definitely my favourite in the north east. Not as sterile as the sage and better sound and layout than the boiler shop.
Driving through in the taxi and walking around passed loads of development. Civic centre housing looks great. The bottom of the high street has gone from buildings literally falling down to an arty little hub, pop rec, the bridge, George Clark opening something, new housing, the tyre shop building looking great. Mackies corner looks great. High street was depressing but stuff being demolished and ready for development. Keel square, culture house, Vaux site all unreal. Passed the new little park next fancy car park, it’s coming great and looks fantastic . Overlooking the new Bridge had a lot of foot traffic on it going to the stunning sheepfolds.
It was bloody great me and the missus just talking about how it’s taking off it exciting as hell. Council elections be careful what you wish for.
