You're absolutely right to pick up on the phrasing used in the Team Talk section of the programme on 23 March.

We are very sorry.

Luke Edwards says he is mortified. He has posted about the incident on social media to try to put things right and apologise. He says: 'I would like to apologise for this. It certainly wasn't my intention to make light of racism. I've found it abhorrent my entire life. It was a clumsy link in a very short segment talking about the game yesterday. The incident that interrupted the match, and the arrest of fans before the start of the game, were covered in the late evening BBC Look North (NE&C) bulletin broadcast on 22 March and on the Breakfast bulletins on 23 March. The incident was also reported on the main BBC One news evening bulletins on 22 March.

I received the exact same email word for word. I am sure he is mortified?? My ass.......

People on here moaning about Newcastle being seemingly more important than Sunderland (on BBC), and then moaning that Sunderland's match 'only' gets 1 minute 13 whole seconds MORE coverage than another club in the region.

So, the BBC have no right in supposedly 'favouring' Newcastle over Sunderland, but they can favour Sunderland over Boro ???

Boro forum have the match as a “ thread “ so maybe when you say it’s not important to Boro fans ànd the fact you are on here commenting on our perceptions ?-maybe Boro fans like yourself do care more than you want to admit-you in fact very often comment on things Sunderland

I'm not sure why we have all received the same response as I'm sure that the text of each complaint would have included different points.

In my experience of responding to complaints you are supposed to take each point into consideration in your response.

Might watch again tonight to see if they apologise on air. But I might also not bother. Maybe if I wanted to see extended highlights of Gateshead v York it would be more fulfilling.

Maybe his brain his, cos the medical definition of that word is apparently ‘dead or gangrenous body tissue’.

Bit irrelevant that really.
There's threads on this forum about most matches - especially on days that Sunderland aren't playing.
Does that mean that Sunderland fans see all these matches as important to them?

My point was that BBC North East/Cumbria covers quite an extensive area (not just Tyneside/Wearside ), so other news stories sometimes (quite rightly) take precedence.

There are a lot of people in 'our' BBC region that have no interest in a match between you two, do they have no right to local news just because you two are playing each other?

Yes I quite often comment on threads on here.
There's a thread about Boro on this forum - does that mean that everyone who comments on that then 'cares' about the non-entity that is Boro?
Cos most people on here deny any 'feelings' towards us.

Even today - people moaning because they've received the same email in response to their complaint - do they really expect somebody at the BBC to sit down and write individual letters to everybody?

Anything about the racial abuse from scum, police or PL yet ?

Or will it be brushed under the carpet.

I sent complainant to kick it out and no reply back from them as of yet.

Edit..didn't want to start seperate thread on it
