Ross Stewart

Not a lot to be happy about in football today.

But I was pleased to see Ross Stewart score the winner at Craven Cottage, in this competition.

He said in his interview that he wanted to banish some memories on that pitch.

He was some player before that injury and we were class that day anarl. Was it Rigg’s debut?

Horrific injury, one of worst I can remember.

Anyway, happy for him.

Aye nice for him to put some demons to rest. He had a hand in the penalty that decided the game, decent through ball and scored it as well.

I remember that Fulham game in January 2023. It was a brilliant team performance against high flying Premier League opposition and in my opinion we thoroughly deserved a replay back at the Stadium of Light but the blow of losing Ross Stewart to another injury was a bitter pill to swallow. As Albert King once said, if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all - as far as injuries go anyway. Anyway good to see him playing again and back among the goals.

Cracking penalty mind.

Love Ross me.

Oh, and Rigg's debut was Shrewsbury, I think, earlier in the cup. Was a great game and atmosphere, my 2nd born's first game.

Actually thought he looked like he's bulked up a bit? Guess theres not much else you can do with such long spells out.

Really pleased for the lad yesterday, he's got some talent, unfortunately he's only been able to show it in flashes.

I was there that day with my two boys, in the Putney End, three-odd years ago. Felt awful for the lad.

I was wandering around Tesco – perhaps the weekend's highlight, in the end, sadly – doing the weekly shop and listening to the Fulham/Soton game on R5.

When he came on as a sub yesterday I thought here was a chance for him to write the next episode in his redemption arc. Glad to see it.
