And the one yesterday was a very bad mistake.

Yeah exactly and totally spot on, dumbfounded it wasn’t overturned when slowed down replay and perfect angle.

I get the feeling Gillet won't be batting an eyelid about it and actually thinks he was right about it.

The calamity he had was giving a free kick to us about 5 minutes later for a lesser but similar offence and again late in 2nd half for Bournemouth. Dreadful referee he is.

What are " mistakes " caused by then ?
I mean picking up a tin of marrowfat peas instead of mushy when theyre next to each other on the shelf at Asda is a mistake.
You could say anything that results in an adverse outcome is a mistake and pass it off . If you're still getting home with the wrong peas when youve got a team around you equiped with VAR surely you'd have a word with the doc wouldnt you ?

Well if we talking about this in general and not yesterday.

I think real time decisions and VAR decisions are two different debates.

It’s proven without a shadow of a doubt over countless years that with one look, one angle and spilt second to decide with just a human eye as a tool mistakes are inevitable and always have through different generations of refs.

So that above paragraph is the obvious answer to your question of ‘ what causes mistakes’ in real time in general

However with VAR they have multiple looks, they have multiple angles, they have more time to decide.

So mistakes for that very reason by VAR deserves a lot more criticism,

Yesterday was different though it’s was a really bad mistake in real time and a inexcusable one after VAR

He’s just a shit referee, every time I see him he’s got this bizarre style of refereeing in which he thinks he’s letting play go on yet he’s just ignoring blatant fouls. And what is the point of VAR if every man and his dog can see that it’s a penalty yet they don’t even bother to send him to have a look at it. I’d have been less pissed off if he was sent to the monitor and decided to stick to his guns rather than just ignoring it.

Oh and booking Adams yet giving them the free kick for the foul on Xhaka is just the cherry on top of his ineptness

Yeah it was total incompetence to give Adams the free kick . He could of broke his ankle . It was at this point I think he thinks ....what have I just done . The man's a total idiot .
 
I honestly think the Premier League are desperate to make Gillet a success so they can attract other refs from abroad to move here. He is out of his depth. The non red card is getting overlooked a bit IMO, we should have had 30 mins against 10 men.
