Early leavers and final whistle on Sunday

We're not that special as a fan base to be fair... we have and always have had our fair share of fuckle supporters
I'm not sure what's happened too be honest, first 2/3 months of season personally I thought atmosphere was top notch, best for years. Last couple of month it's been dire. Since the mag game, it's been dire. people turning up just thinking we are going to win, people's expectations have risen.

Spot on, theres a sense some of the crowd think we just gave to turn up to beat the likes of Fulham. Them first few home games especially had magical atmospheres; best since the Reidy heyday.

When the club is trying desperately to build a connection with the fans, which it did successfully with the 'til the end campaign and the generally positive relationship between players and fans this season, it must be galling for the players who are trying their hearts out on the pitch to see thousands not prepared to support their team until the final whistle.

It's not like a film where if you don't like it you leave the cinema early or skip a song if you don't like it on Spotify. This is our football club, it's different from any other form of consumerism, the whole point is there's an irrational love for an institution which, in Sunderland's case, would have lost virtually all support in recent years if it was simply about the product on the pitch.

Even if was just about 'the product', it's now at its best for a generation and there have also been lots of late goals this season so that argument doesn't stack up either.

People who consistently leave early are generally consumers, not supporters, who don't epitomise what supporting the club is really all about. It's almost become a badge of honour to leave early ffs. Support the lads 'til that end.

You’re not sure what’s happened?
The novelty has worn off, performances have dipped and the reality of the Premier League has set in, all of the aforementioned will have an effect on the atmosphere.

It’s hard to think of the reason for so many leaving so early given it was around 3.30pm on a Sunday when it happened. It’s a real shame if a couple of lesser results in the league and the fan base is returning to type to how things were in the back end of the 10 year stint in the PL last time around.

The only way to possibly make some think twice would be a message from the players and management about it, urging fans to stay until the end.

Wouldn’t be great PR and the fans of other clubs would invariably jump all over it, so for those reasons I don’t think it would ever happen.
I agree we need to do something, out of any club in top 2 divisions we have the worst reputation for “Fans” leaving early and that strangely is Win, lose or draw……. Let’s get behind the lads Til the end !

Was watching a stream online through a Chinese app with Mickey Bridges co-commentating. They showed the fans streaming out and commented on it. Game over was clearly the message. If I attended games I wouldn't leave early but looked like more than one or two. Obviously didn't like what they saw.

For a night match I get it, some people have an early shift the next day. But a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, what difference does getting home 10/15 minutes earlier make?
