ID checks for away tickets

Yea, that’s far better than someone who sacrifices his career, education and family.

Which other scenario would your view be acceptable?

Only regulars allowed in the pub?

Just regular shoppers allowed in the shop?

Only frequent diners allowed in the restaurant.

Borderline “are you local” stuff
The fact you compare supporting a football club to those other things proves my point.

It’s not just a form of entertainment to pop to as a one off day out, like a cinema trip. You don’t have a clue. Thankfully you won’t be in our away ends to dilute them further.

The thing is, for loads of people it is and there’s nothing wrong with that. I went to watch QPR v Cov a couple of weeks ago - also watched Watford v Birmingham. Nowt wrong with that.

I’m a Sunderland fan, you’re a Sunderland fan- equal. It’s not a contest as to who has ruined their life more supporting Sunderland. No fan is a “better fan” than the next.

Genuinely, if you have lost relationships and friendships because of SAFC, that is a matter of concern.

I would argue that someone who has travelled the length and breadth of the country through the divisions is a better fan than your average match goer.

There are fans who have had season tickets since the stadium opened and before. These are better fans than those who come and go.

The ones who have done the miles and have the (genuine) points deserve first dibs at away tickets. It's the only fair way unfortunately.

Fair points.

I’d agree that the people who have put in the miles deserve first dibs- no doubt about that- I just wouldn’t want to create a scale of how “good” fans are.

There are numerous reasons why people can’t travel to away games- not least the financial commitment it requires. I wouldn’t want to put someone in a “worse fan than me box” because I’ve been more fortunate in life.
No wonder supporter culture and atmosphere is on its arse.
….and yet the game has never been more popular or well supported.

Tempora mutantur, et nos mutamur in illis

I’ve been in many away ends since the 80s

My kids can’t go, because of obsessed people like you.

The system is going to be reviewed and it may do you good to miss a few.

whatever away ends you've been in since the 80's is pretty irrelevant really as you've obviously decided to stop going otherwise you'd be able to get a ticket now we're doing well again.
i'm sure i said to you before that it might be a good idea to teach a kid that you need to work at something to get what you want and twisting on like a fanny doesn't work.

His kid is also only 5 years old.

5 year old should be able to go to an away game of their choosing as if it’s soft play iirc

it's the self, self, self attitude that's all too prevalent nowadays. probably never be seen again if we drop through the leagues.
His five year old should be able to just take a ticket off me for a one off game because that’s what they want and it’s only a game or something

Loads of ageing knackers on here tonight living out their lives thinking that one day they’ll get back to the Fulwell End and thinking people care about the weather they’ve endured or the shit grounds they’ve visited.

The truth of the matter is our away ends this season have been pretty shite as the old fellas buying the tickets are actually going instead of passing on the tickets to the “daft lads” who’ve led the away end last few seasons.

Too many now just desperate to hang onto their youth like them lads you see in skate parks who are clearly 10 years older than the rest of the kids there but not sure how to move on.

My kids can work all they want, they’ll never get enough points to make a difference.

Quite happy if they had a chance, but they dont

Your posts are usually well rounded and sensible mate. Not sure why you have resorted to having a pop at some of our older fans tonight?

You don’t want them to anyway. Going to every match and having a real passion for it is sad or not what the games about or something

Self self self, coming from those who point even discuss a fairer system??

I can’t even remember how many grounds I’ve been to, the youngsters don’t have that opportunity.

I just want a system which isn’t a closed shop

obviously not many in the last 3 years.
tbh, i suspect it's you rather than your kid(s) that want to jump on the bandwagon.
