Enzo Le Fee

Wound up watching the extended highlights of the play-off final yesterday, and one thing I noticed was that I maybe didn't before, was that when Tyrese Campbell scored on the break, it was Enzo busting a gut trying to chase him down. He didn't get there, and that's fine, but the effort says a lot about the lad.

Was having a conversation with a pal the other day, talking about why it’s so difficult for Rigg to get a game; it’s because Le Fee has just been so good. And like all the best players Le Fee demands to play as much time as possible. I’d go as far as to say that Le Fee has probably been our best player of the season if we take into account expectation.

Look at last year, Le Fee was obviously great, but was forced to play out wide, not a really his position, but grafted away. Whereas this season, he’s been put centrally way more often, where he’s basically been allowed to be the trigger of the press, and if you watch him all game he doggedly chases everything, intercepts way more than he did in the championship, tackles way more than he did in the championship, basically having the role of “team bulldog”.

I think RLB is concerned that if he takes off Le Fee (a player he already had a massive loyalty to anyway), the style of play changes way too much, and its a massive risk.

It just shows;
1. How much Le Fee has improved this year
2. How pivotal Le Fee is in this system
3. Potentially why RLB doesnt want to loan Rigg out, because by the looks of it, he could be trying to get him to watch ELF
I know he's young and it's a canny film but he needs to show maturity rather than holding him back in his youth watching stuff like that

He’s like a little magician, he has that touch of class that can change a game and make something happen. Also works his arse off for the team.

When I watched the Liverpool game I thought he’s our version of Wirtz, obviously not saying he’s as good as him mind.

I expected more (not in a negative way though) I dont think we've seen anywhere never his best yet. I really rate the kid

He's scored a couple of goals recently and I think that's the only thing that's been lacking from his game. His one against Everton was obviously quality, but I liked his goal against Palace. That's the sort of thing I want to see him doing more of. Quality player and love his workrate.

I think he’s been our best player this season, however for a number of reasons Xhaka has been the most important.

I think Le Fee would look even better in a team where he as more license to just roam about into empty pockets of space then feed the ball in the channels for a quick striker.

He has too much defensive responsibility, which hampers him a bit in our set up, especially when Diarra is in as well.

There is an often well-founded assumption that gifted footballers will not be the workhorses of the teams they play in. Le Fee simply bucks that trend. He is, without doubt, the best 'ball at his feet' footballer in the squad, but the amount of ground he seems to cover and the number of tackles and interceptions that he makes takes him out of the 'luxury player' bracket and places him in the 'all-rounder' category. Also while Xhaka has been sidelined he has seemed to step up to the mark in terms of leadership
