Speakman gone

He was heavily linked to some big jobs before RLB arrived and last summer so I suspect now Ghisolfi is settled in Speakman will get a good job elsewhere. He built our promotion teams for next to nowt. One of the best and most important appointments in our history.

Personally bit gutted really. He’s done a cracking job. If all the players in the summer were ghisolfi’s players then that’s reassuring but I’d be surprised if he just goes back to Brum. If I were a PL outfit I’d be very interested if he was available

Surely the club has known and planned for it for sometime time now
They may have but if it wasn't the new bloke ,he remains unproven .
Not particularly worried about the decision ,those in charge of the club seem to be very driven ,ruthless in fact .
I was never Speakmans' biggest fan but am grateful for his hard work . Sure he has been well rewarded.

This surprises me. He always struck me as coming across very well, professional and a key part of our resurgence.

Does this have anything to do with our assistant leaving suddenly as well?

I'm not sure he gets that credit. Think without Ghisolfi we would probably have been a Championship club next season.

Very little Premier League quality in his signings. Very good job given his budget but also very lucky to get promoted, he was not scouting Mukiele, Alderette, Mandava, Le Fee, Xhaka, Bobby, Isidor etc..

I will always remember him for taking a punt on Anderson and Hjelde because they had a left foot and my favourite Hemir (He-man) on a five year deal. His legacy to me will be tied with what Seelt achieves in the game... A solid championship player for a championship recruit er.

Good luck to him in future as ultimately he helped bring us back to life.
Bollocks. We earned what we got.

Where was the luck ?

I understand you being reluctant to credit an individual too much, but we weren't lucky beat Coventry at their place.

Tommy Watson and Myenda scored two wonderful goals.

I don’t think people realise how much of coup it was in a promoted side getting Ghisolfi… said at the time, he was the most important signing we made after promotion.

No way could Speakman have attracted or dealt with the agents of the players we signed to convince them to join a newly promoted side.
Pretty much with you on this . Thought due to the high profile of some of our signings ,he must have been the one responsible .
Very high proportion of good decisions amongst them and those who proved not so successful soon moved on ,like the left back and Adingra.

Done a great job. Always enjoyed reading his quotes talking about a player when he leaves as well, never sounded like bullshit and helps to create a vibe that the club genuinely care about their players' development, even if they are on the way out

PL outfits are shopping where we are shopping. It seems to be the consensus on here that those sort of targets aren’t really his speciality. He may turn out that to be a Ralf Rangnick type in that getting fallen giants back on their feet and back where they belong is his forte.
Sheff Wed will be needing someone with his skill set next season. WBA, Blackburn or Leicester even.
I’d like to see him resurface at Plymouth myself.

Suppose aye, you'd be right on that stuff being longer term. Think most of them get tired primarily on recruitment mind so doesn't surprise me people get offers pretty quickly.

Replacing Deco
That would be one helluva upgrade for Barça.
I think there’s more to this than meets the eye. I’ve been critical of Speakman in the past and although he appears to have done a good job overall he was responsible for bringing some flops to the club. He didn’t endear himself to me when interviewed with his buzz word parlance.
He will get employment if he wants it and I’m sure his reputation in the game is very good. I wish him well.

"Parlance" was his buzzword?

Bloke on Wise Men Say podcast really doesn’t seem too fond of him
Would love to know what that’s all about.

I’ve been one of KS’s biggest critics at times but it honestly sounds personal with this fella.

The more I think about it, the more I think something has happened behind the scenes. I think it’s unusual for someone in his position to be told to leave with immediate effect, it would have made more sense if they said he’s leaving at the end of the season similar to what’s happened with the Academy Manager Robin Nichols who’s leaving to join New York.

We’ve never had as ambitious of an owner marra. The board, key figures like Bruce & Ghisolfi all seem to be aligned in making us the best we can possible be.

Yes we have.

Examples: the owners/board who got SAFC into the league and assembled the Team of all the Talents.

Wasn’t the owner/board in the 1950s ambitious? They broke transfer records in the Bank of England Club era.

Doesn’t sit well with me this one speakman as much as kld deserves all the credit in the world for getting us from league 1 to the prem speakman basically ran the club last few years shocked to see him leave after the job he’s done
