ID checks for away tickets

that would be ideal if they have the points it reached if the game sold out.

I think that would be make it extremely awkward as if it was the day before and you wanted to pass it on, not only would you have to find a mate willing to go but he'd also have to have the required points . The pool of available people would be tiny.

Opening it to all ST holders at least gives you a change to find a willing recipient

But the instance the lad is talking about here is where they share a season ticket which the club is more than happy for people to do.

I'm in the same situation where I work away so out lass takes the kids when I'm working so we 'share' a season ticket.
The same happens for away games, she will take them if I'm working. Luckily we haven't had any ID checks yet but by rights she will not get into the ground to an away if she gets an ID check.
Not really sure what the answer is here but the club are happy enough for people to share season tickets as it was the reason I gave them for why we wanted a physical season card when they were trying to push digital a few year back.

Exactly this, they were happy to take the money in the league 1 days and had a season ticket ever since the stadium opened. So for away games they’re now effectively blocking sharing of a season ticket

perhaps there should be a 'reserve' list of those who just missed out and can travel at a moment's notice. that way you know tickets will end up in deserving hands.
at the end of the day, these id checks are only being introduced because of people giving tickets away to mates. it's a case of reap what you sow.

I realise it would complicated to do , and bare little financial benefit to the home club or SAFC , but if there was on an option on my SAFC ticketing account to "forward away ticket" - like there is for home games - and you get a drop down list of your friends and family , you can then select someone on the condition they are a current ST holder and don't already have a ticket for that game, then it generates a ticket and sends the link to that account

But your restricted to a few a season

In my simplified mind it seems easy as it's exactly the same as what we already have for home tickets

I'm sure there'll be a convoluted reason why it can't be done..it would help out a lot of people if it could be tho
There is also no reason they can’t have a system to list the tickets for anyone to buy. It works for Dice for music.

Loyalty points add some complexity, but the tech exists

they might have consulted with their support how to implement it. imposed by premier league
They’ve imposed it in the Champions League, they’ve announced it tonight after people have booked that they need photographic ID to pick tickets up in Azerbaijan

Champions League and Premier League are run by different bodies.

Imagine if people have got the ticket and offered it to a mate who has then spent hundreds on flights and accomodation but wont be able to collect the ticket in Baku? Bound to be a fair few who have done this. Should lose their loyalty points and probably will.

Its a huge disintentive to risk that again in the next round.

So at the moment there’s no way of returning a ticket if you can’t go, and they’re not even giving everyone notice of an ID check it’s just random people who’re selected?
What happens then? The ticket is cancelled and the person who would get the loyalty point doesn’t? But ultimately it still doesn’t solve any problems with ticket sharing because some people will still be happy to buy the ticket under the small risk it might go to waste / lose the money and they get no point, but they can just do it again for the next game if they want?

One of the lads got stopped on Sat. His young son had gone in first and then his ticket got rejected. Ridiculous situation where an 8 year old child was in the ground and yet he couldn’t get in.
Was it a planned ticket check ? I get the feeling it’s an easy way out when clitches with tech for them to just say it’s an ID check and you need to get one printed , or was the duplicate ticket already waiting for him ?

i'm not angry and i have no worries whatsoever about getting tickets. why would it be impossible for the club to have a last minute option and do you not think it would be a good and fair idea?
i do have an issue with unfairness, one of the biggest proponents of this 'scheme' has just admitted the passing on of tickets among his group. do you really think that's fair on others?
in my view this whole 2/3 times a season is just an excuse to dish out tickets to their mates who may or may not deserve them.

i've been going to away games for over 40 years and can only ever remember duffing one match when the car broke down. there was another time at luton when i stopped in the club but there was no tickets in those days.
I'm very similar mate. Been going away since 84 and can only remember a few which is my point really. I'll do anything to get to the game. But 40 years ago wasn't an issue as it was probably cash on the turnstile (oh happy days). Before the Arsenal game we had comitted to buy for 4, as yet unplayed, games. It's much easier to have an emergency in that situation. I'm all for fairness, especially for away tickets, but I'm just trying to be practical and ensure that our most loyal fans aren't treated like criminals

The amount of people I seen at Arsenal who i know haven’t attended away games this season and have little points , some dont even have a season ticket.

There will be some people literally allowing their season card points to be used and they pick and choose their games and just mine points.

Meanwhile I’m scrambling for phase 3 ffs.

As I said earlier I've been doing away games for over 40 years. This isn't helped by the fact that I've been an exile in London for almost all of that time and therefore I've always made my own way to matches rather than going with fellow fans, but I can safely say out of the 3000 fans there on saturday I probably half recognised about 10 of them, and that incudes my two lads. Seriously, there is no way of knowing who has what points wise albeit I think there were probably a few players tickets in my area as there were a few very young kiddies and I couldn't help but think they weren't old enough to have built up points over the last 3-4 years
