Geertruida

The crazy thing for me is that surely that weird role hume is playing is made for geertruida? He's experience in playing all those roles at champions league level and better on the ball. I can't wrap my head around it personally. That's not to knock hume, more in praise of geertruida
Very possibly, but the only time that I can remember Geerty in that hybrid rm/rb role (first half against Spurs) it was pretty terrible - and he looked vastly more comfortable when he was moved to an orthodox central midfield role in the second half. Not a big data set or course, but Hume has played well when he's done that role (WHU was something different - and a whole lot worse).

I think its just that Regis has gone with Trai, hes never let him down , well apart from WH when everyone did, and he likes his energy and 'connection' as an intangible.
He's even made him captain and you would have thought his international captain, Ballard or the experienced ,Mukeile would have took that .
NI seem to move the arm band around each game but I think hume may have had it more than Ballard.

I think Hume is more suited to the less arduous international games rather than the quick press and hurley burley of the Premier league. He may well not start tomorrow unless RLB plays a back 5.

Bloke would be an idiot to sign for us, not guaranteed game time, absolutely no chance he signs
Bear in mind Liverpool only wanted him on loan, then ask yourself, would we guarantee anyone game time? Do sides actually agree to this?

Who would he displace at RB, in the centre of midfield, or at centre half? He'd be incredibly useful for us but Is he as dynamic as the rest of our signings? If he did want to leave on a loan deal at a crucial juncture of our season is he the right player for us?

Don't get me wrong here, I like him a lot, I'd sign him as he has potential and the price is right but for whatever reason he hasn't been a regular starter for us, albeit he's played a lot of pitch time. Just asking a few questions to see what people think.

I think you have to be realistic with any of these lads. If Liverpool come calling they are going to want to explore what that entails. On the bench for us or on the bench for one of the biggest names in world football.

I think since Regis has all but abandoned 5 at the back in it's true format, ala Chelsea. Geertruida looks to be purely a backup midfielder or 10mins at the end at CB if we're holding on. Even the midfield option is questionable now with Hume seemingly preferred Which I don't understand . He probably saw a chance to nail down right back for Liverpool for a few months in a World Cup year. Can't blame him IMO.

I think Gerty starts tomorrow, as part of a back three, just a hunch.
I think he’ll start too. Maybe Diarra dropping out. Whilst he might have been psychically fit for 8 weeks now, he still hasn’t had a lot of match time. Even less time “making connections” & playing in Le Bris’ set ups. I reckon three centre halves, Hume & Reinildo wing backs with Sadiki & Gerty as the central midfielders.

Leaves Le Fee, Brobby & Tialbi to do the damage up top. Hopefully we get near their box.
This. If anyone was to drop out for him it’d Ballard, but Ballard has just been too good.
Ballard’s my player of the season so far. First name on the team sheet & undroppable on current form.

I really like him and hope we sign him permanently but you make it sound like he’s bigger than the club and should be guaranteed a game. We’re on the whole performing well this season so Regis can’t be faulted for his selections, we happen to have a lot of good players. I’d like to think his attitude is I’ll fight for my place rather than sulking, tbf to him he puts in a good display and shift just about every time he starts or comes on. It’s a squad game these days.
