Tommy Watson

I will be on the side of the fence to say he’d be miles off the side.

He looked like he was struggling for the vast majority in the Championship, so to step it up to Premier League standard is a million miles away the next season.

He’s obviously got something about him & it’s now up to him to make the step up to men’s football, but I’d be more surprised to see him smash it at Millwall than look short.

Can only imagine Millwall will want a player to come in support their promotion push. He’ll have to hit the ground running.
He wouldn’t be miles off this side though. He’s the exact player we would be giving minutes to and nobody has nailed down that left wing spot either which would also massively help his cause.

Which player that’s anywhere near as inexperienced & with less professional football minutes have we been giving minutes to?

The nearest example is Rigg that played a major part in a promotion winning side last year that is arguably our best talent in a generation & he’s been used sparingly

Kind of academic though isn’t it. He wanted to leave and wouldn’t sign a new contract

Brighton bid for him the year before (£2m iirc) and he was never staying

Staggering after he signed for a bigger club than Sunderland.
To be fair to the lad it was a good business decision at the time both us and him plus he gets a bump in pay. I can’t fault the lad good luck to him. Remember we get a sell on fee if he works out.

Rigg is a central midfield player, we have got loads of cover there. We have even tried to give him monitors out of position.

Like I said nobody has nailed down that left wing spot since start of season and Watson would definitely be getting minutes. I don’t even think that’s up for debate.
