I hope he does well and goes onto have a good career just think he's missed a trick in not signing after all the work he's put in to get to the premiership in the first place, he may not get another chance.

Aye it looks like it, maybes promotion wasn't the best for him in terms of contract negotiations
 
I wish him well,anyone who helped get us out of league 1 let alone the championship deserves our respect and gratitude.

Would have liked to see him stay but it was obvious he wasnt going to get much of a look in this year. I think he'll do a job for Ipswich .
 
Thanks for your big part getting us to the promised land Dan. Hope you make it back to the prem and start playing in it. The club didn't fancy you in the prem just wish you had a chance to prove them wrong. Alas that wont happen.

Clearly this is somewhere near the truth.
The club has not given him game time for a reason and it’s got nothing to do with other players. There is no way if they saw him as as an asset they would play him so little.

The club feel they have lost out on £10m and they were not going to be used as he ran his contract down. They had bigger priorities in terms of giving players game time.

Dan has gone from holding all the cards to losing half a season of football.

I wish it had been different, but it isn’t, agents ruin everything

Somehow this seems harder to take than when Jordan P and Jordan H left. I always want to see home grown lads playing a big part in the team but the two Jordans left for bigger clubs (at the time). I feel that Dan is having to move backwards a little in order to recharge and go again. Staying and sitting on the bench was no good for him, he's a better man and a better player than that. Wherever he goes I'm sure he will take a bit of Sunderland with him. It has been wonderful to read all of the comments from his team mates, If any of us were in doubt about his worth to the whole club, then that has surely put that to bed. All the best, Dan. He was f***ing shite for 50% of his games here man, even struggled in some league one games, people have short memories. I remember all the Dan Neil weekly shit threads on here man, take the local lad blinkers off he is no where near good enough even for the championship he struggled badly at times in the promotion season even being subbed off at times, glad we are shot of shite like him, take Ipswich fans 5 games max before they realise he is shite as well, signing him probably fucked their promotion up!

As I watched the lads party after the match I said half of them will be out of work, none of us could have predicted what happened but neither can we complain

Wish Dan nothing but the very best.
It's always a source of great pride to see local lads come through all the way to the first team.
For him to then be a huge part of two promotions helping to take us back to the Premier League and to lift the trophy on that day at Wembley...well he'll have my gratitude forever.
Hope to see him become a regular for a Premier League side.
