Chris Rigg

He's still a bairn but with loads of experience already. He'll be getting the best added experience he can get everyday in training with the likes of Xhaka, Le Fee, Diarra, Sadiki etc.

If the coaches think he's good enough to play a bit this season then that's great. He should be much improved again by next season and then they can assess in the summer whether he needs to go out on loan or fight for a place.

Needs to bulk up big time or be technically very good, it’s all about athleticism nowadays, this can be overcome if you are very skilful to a degree but most teams favour strong athletic players in midfield
Yup, he needs to get some meat on his bones and eat whatever the hell Brian Brobbey is eating so he can also be strong like bull 😎

Think he'd be better off staying here and training with the 1st team and playing regularly for the 21s tbh
Playing in half arsed no jeopardy u21 football isn’t going to improve him at all. All this talk of him training alongside Xhaka and co will make him a better player is a load of rubbish. He’s been training with them for 6 months now and hasn’t improved one bit. You don’t improve as a footballer by training you need to be out playing games it’s really that simple

Probably needs to go out on loan... play regularly and hopefully improve 🤫

Fine margins in contact sport in the best league in the world mate , but you know best 👍🏻
Your original comment was almost suggesting that Rigg is stepping into a new body every morning when he wakes up, i thought it was a bit of an exaggeration too.

He is 18 years old ffs, is clearly talented and will benefit from being around quality footballers. The option of a loan is one that could always be considered next season if it is going to aid his development but that's next season, and should be considered accordingly.

The running theory seems to be, if you are not Rooney then you might as well play for Preston

It's not that simple at all, he's at a stage in his career where not playing regularly isn't necessarily a bad thing. I always look at Foden and how Man City resisted sending him out on loan. Kept him around good pros and he flourished in time. There's absolutely no need to rush Rigg. Basically I massively disagree with you

No emojis please. Those are for the kids to muck around with.
People making note of Rigg and his physicality I would add in it isn’t all just about that although it is a plus to have it. Technique and skills are just as important. Fernandez at man up for example is canny and he’s not built particularly robustly. That little lad Croatian who was at Real Madrid was canny as well.
Same applies to posters who don't know what they're talking about!

Foden was streets ahead of Rigg at his age. Its an unfair comparison to begin with as Foden was and always will be a far better player than Rigg.

After playing a good few games in the championship, him going back into the u23, and barely having a few minutes fro the rest of the season in around the first team squad is a backwards step for the lad. I'm sure he'll be itching to play games now.

There's little point in introducing lads to senior football at a young age, if you're then going to stiffle the progression made by putting them back into a position they were in a season or two ago.

It's a comparison of situation not of ability.

You can’t compare Foden to Rigg man.

Fernandes' stamina is exceptional. Regularly clocks the most distance covered in games he plays in. He's not massive but he's very agile and turns really well in tight spaces and to change direction

I think it's fair to say the big unknown about Rigg is how he develops physically. It doesn't mean will be become rapid or grow to 6'7", but most top players have exceptional physical traits which they develop and hone during their career

Players like Iniesta, not massive or rapid - maybe fairly quick over 10 yards - but his balance and agility was exceptional

Fk me, I'm comparing the situation.
It’s a complete different scenario l Foden played over 25 games when he was 18 for Man City first team. I team that was winning trophies. Chris Rigg has barely kicked a ball all season. I look at Miley at the Mags, Him and Rigg played against each other loads growing up i remember watching a game when we beat there u21 team and Rigg completely ran the show and ran all over Miley. But Miley has moved miles ahead of him simply because he’s playing regular football. Chris Rigg minutes wise has plsyed the equivalent of 4 and a half games this season. I couldn’t care less if he’s trianing with Xhaka day in day out that isn’t going to make him a better player if he’s not playing matches alongside it

No it's not completely different that's absolute bollocks. Rigg is in and around a pl squad at the same age. I'm glad you mention Miley as he's played more because of injuries, they also didn't send him out on loan. All in all I disagree with you and think you're talking nonsense. I won't be offended if you think the same of me

Do you honestly see any improvement in Rigg? He hasn’t improved at all lets be honest now. He had a poor second half of last season and the games he’s played this
Season he’s been miles off it. He barely got a game when the 6 lads were at Afcon. He isn’t going to play much here i can’t fathom that fans actually believe him sitting about training everyday is actually a good thing. He isn’t going to improve as a footballer by training, You only improve by playing real games. He isn’t going to be any better come next season For training alongside Xhaka and Co😂 Go out and play games man it’s what football development is about
