I think even at £2m/year on top of that £2.5m/year, that isn’t bad value if he can continue on the form he was playing at before AFCON. He did take a fair bit of time to get going though, so who knows. We also need to factor in the SAFC injury tax, meaning he could be out for 4-5 months rather than 4-5 weeks.The problem is that he will be on a decent wage though and the club will probably see better value in investing some of his salary in a younger player who could potentially increase in value.
I suppose it depends on the transfer window, but if we can bring in Ta Bi and Fatawu for example and get rid of Traore and Mundle for roughly the same wages then we would do it.
I’m getting the feeling this Ta Bi lad isn’t going to be going straight in to the first team. If Mundle goes out on loan for more regular minutes (which I think will happen), RLB will want someone else to bring on as a finisher on 60-70 minutes.
