Robin Roefs 🇳🇱 compendium

This. The value of our current players has skyrocketed.,We are in excellent financial position with some serious assets on our books. We can afford to really push the boat out in the summer and try and push on and keep these lads here.
We need a quality inside right forward ( left footed) straight for the first team and then we need a few quality signings for depth.

It was a massive stroke of luck for us to end up with this lad and not one of our primary targets. I honestly thought when I saw the price tag, that he was here to compete with Patto, but he's elite in every aspect of his game. Some keepers are commanding in the air, some are good with their feet, some are good shot stoppers. Roefs is the full package.

He didn't make his debut for NEC until he was 20 and also only had 1 full season with them. It's like he just became the Dutch Manuel Neuer overnight!

I'm pretty sure every other keeper we were seriously linked with have either gone on to be dreadful or pick up major injuries.

His youtube compilation video was absolutely packed with great saves for someone with just one season of football.

I think he was a standout keeper in his one full season in the Dutch league, it's just really unusual that he couldn't break into the NEC team before then or didn't have a stand out loan somewhere. That happens at bigger clubs, but for NEC to have the best keeper in the league at 21, who couldn't get a start for them when he was 20 is bizarre!

because jasper cillessen was our keeper back then. he played the knvb beker games.

Seen a lot of opposition fans cottoning onto how good he is recently.
Spurs fans, Liverpool fans and Man Utd fans.
Though admittedly Man Utd fans probably look at that Macclesfield team with envy.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave in the summer for mega money, but hope he stays of course. Wonder if we're sniffing about for an understudy/potential replacement

22 years old!!!

Has no ceiling (potential world cup winner in the summer?). Look at the age of some of the ECL blue chip keepers and he's, unfortunately, surely top of their shopping lists. If they think about it he's the potential to be a top level keeper for the next 15 years saving them at least two future transfer fees.

Hopefully the bidding war will mean the fee received will soften the blow of losing him.

This is unfortunately what will happen, or perhaps not unfortunately. Eventually we’ll sell him, and sadiki et al, but imagine the mega bucks we can reinvest. Sunderland, therefore, also have no ceiling!
