Jack Clarke

I’m not suggesting we go back for Clarke. Although they didn’t use him in the most effective way (imo) his stats last season for Ipswich in the premier league speak volumes - 32 appearances no goals.

That said purely in terms of ability to get us up the pitch, to link up with the midfield and to add assists to other players goals I’d say he’d have been as useful if not more useful than Adringa and Mundle have been so far this season.

I’m not advocating bringing Clarke back but it’s another indicator that our wide players aren’t contributing enough.

No he wouldn’t. Brilliant for us but not good enough for the next stage.
Doesn’t always start in his team now. Not sure why people want to go backwards.
Yes he would

do his stats speak volumes?

Played out of position sporadically in a relegated team. He was an amazing finisher in the championship and I don’t think that changes in the prem (although many other aspects of the game do)

HE didn't get many assists

Yeah that stat doesn’t sound great but most people could see that McKenna didn’t play him to his strengths. It seems crazy that you’d buy a player based on what you had seen him do at his previous club then play him in a different roll. I think it highlights the fine margins in football between making it & falling by the wayside. To make it you usually need to be in the right place at the right time, then you need all of the stars to line up after that.

Was surprised to see he's got 8 goals this season - only 3 off the league's top scorer - from only 10 starts. Philogene has 9. He's been not to have nailed down a place there.

They have this season
Maybe a little more than last but he has still played centrally at least as much as on the wing to accommodate other players
In a season where he had not striker that’s hardly surprising. He was our best finisher, so why pass the ball to someone who would miss when he could just shoot and score himself?
In seasons where he had strikers he has been the same

Nobody like Clarke and Roberts wouldn’t.
So for 30minutes at the end of a game Clarke wouldn’t get on ahead of Rigg or the shit Adingra put out the last 2 games? I agree if we want to improve we need to be buying better than talbi, adingra and traore as it stands then they become the reserves. But Clarke during afcon would’ve been handy. A lot of it is down to intrigue of what he’d of been like with a full season here under RLB. Also with Mundle being so poor since his return aswell it’s just a debate point as much as anything. Not writing Mundle off as he just looks to be lacking sharpness

But you literally read a post took 2 names. Chucked a more ridiculous one in and then don’t back it up with anything. I know you were joking with power and really meant Scowen, I just don’t think people’s opinions of Clarke are that outlandish

He’s being linked with us, he’d really strengthen our left side.
He’d be a fantastic signing for Boro. I think played properly he’d be able to feature in the premier league but perhaps not stand out in it.
He'd be a good signing for the Boro. Give us back Alan Browne, he isn't yours and you've had him long enough.
I liked Browne but I’d be selling for a reasonable fee.
