Australia v England, 3rd Test, 16th December , 23.30

For all the criticism of the batting, we've lost this series by terrible bowling - banging the ball in short instead of looking to take wickets. If Bazball batting is too cavalier then Bazball bowling is too cowardly.

Let the post mortem commence.

Can’t bat, can’t bowl, can’t field. When the closest test is an 88 run loss, it speaks volumes as to how uncompetitive this series has been. Other countries have travelled to Australia and lost but they’ve bloodied their noses at some point. We’ve barely even tickled their feet.

Arrogant, ill disciplined, ill prepared and cult like. Time for home truths not patronising nonsense.
Made worse by all the bluster before

I always feel there is a misunderstanding between a lot of English folk that a key to Southern Hemisphere's relative success in traditionally English sports is in all of these unquantifiable terms like "belief", "confidence", "arrogance". When the bottom line is those are the *product* of competence and skill. They follow being good at the basics.

Going off form and evidence into the series, Australia were a very decent team playing in favourable conditions. England were a mercurial term still unsure of their identity playing in circumstances that are notoriously tough for them to win in.

The last 11 days aren't a mystery, just a continuation of some pretty basic and obvious facts. A team who severely underestimated the scale of the assignment were never going to compete.

McCullum saying that in 4 years time, he'd probably do things differently.

Surely not? He might have to start doing some coaching now which will see him found out even more.

How damning is this article

Seems like there is a total lack of discipline.

McCullum and Stokes allowing them to do what they want.

The line about only three turning up for a morning run is disgraceful.

I suspected there was a bit of a drinking culture, totally unacceptable.

We need wholesale changes, from Key to McCullum and Stokes and at the ECB an entire focus shift back to the CC and red ball cricket. Make it more attractive and make pathways for players doing well in the CC to make the test team. At least have the test players with some kind of worry that should they fail to perform they’ll be replaced, not backed regardless.

Australia have been a decent side who’ve executed their plans well. Not a brilliant side though.

Nope it's lazy to blame the bowling

It's happened after the last 3 series here too.

It's pure laziness to blame the bowling.

We knew before the series our bowling wasn't as good as Australia. As we did in the last two.

Our batsman failed to take a single moment in this series even when the Aussie attack has been depleted.

Despite of our bowling all the tests were there to be won.

Batting, fielding, preparation, snicko and then then the bowling is the order I'd put it for the failure of this series .

They deserve all the criticism they get. They’ve rocked up with an arrogant laissez-faire attitude and totally and utterly embarrassed themselves and their country. Every man and his dog could see the preparation was totally wrong but, no - “this is the way we do it”. Get fucked man.

Key should be first out the door followed swiftly by “Baz”. Anyone else involved in selecting playing personnel should also be on the hot seat for the continued selections of Bashir, Crawley, Pope etc…

Had a chance to try out another proper opener last summer and they turned to Dan Lawrence ffs.:lol:

No thanks he cares even less about county cricket.

Another jobs for the boys appointment too.

Fair challenge.

He’s a clever bloke though and whatever you think of it, he was able to put forward ‘a plan’.

If tasked with delivering change to benefit the red ball game, he’d be up a good option. Not sure the ‘high performance review’ would fit the bill.
