Diarra out till December

Looked absolutely miles off, a complete passenger for the most part. He's nowhere near fit, and shouldn't be going to AFCON.

Those minutes will have done him good. Today we didn't pay for him being off it. He'll get some training in a better climate and hopefully some games with Senegal. Then hopefully we get a fit player back in mid-late January.

I honestly don’t think we would have brought him on if it wasn’t first AFCON.

I don’t begrudge a player wanting to represent his national team, and I’m glad that we aren’t standing in his way, but it just seems ludicrous that he’s being selected based on todays performance.

I would be surprised if he could be rehabilitated to match fitness before the end of the tournament even if he stayed here where he could get minutes for the u21s. I can’t imagine there will be too many games where Senegal are secure enough to bring on a passenger to improve his fitness without worrying about losing and being eliminated from the tournament.

He is miles off the pace. It’s handy for us if he’s used correctly. A competitive pre season so to speak
