Brighton fan in peace

A few of us are parking at Lewes and getting the train to the stadium.

I'm looking forward to visiting the Tampax stadium (as my palace friend calls it, something about being stuck up c**ts).

Appreciate the heads up, and the information given mate. Have a shit game, but a great season.

Firstly, good luck on Sunday. I’m sure most of the footballing world would be delighted if you can secure all three points. You’ve been a breath of fresh air since being promoted.

I’m also completely biased as I’m married to a Mackem and was delighted when you got promoted in May.

Anyway, Brighton STH very much in peace, looking ahead to our fixture next Saturday at the AMEX.

Happy to answer any questions about your upcoming visit.

It’s only your second visit to our ‘new’ home. Your first was in the League Cup way back in 2011 when you were only the fourth side to come and visit. It’s also the first time we’ll have played each other in the league since 2005. That fixture was at the Withdean in the season you won the Championship. The last time we hosted you before that was in 1992. There can’t have been many fixtures where the last three league meetings have been at three different home grounds!

Brighton, as many of you will know is a fantastic city with lots of places to eat and drink whilst enjoying a long weekend. Unfortunately, with the stadium being where it is (not in the city centre, another long story), places close to the ground are limited.

Your best best is to drink in Brighton (or alternatively Lewes) and then utilise the free travel that is included your match ticket. The stadium has a dedicated railway station - Falmer - train travel is free on matchdays to and from Brighton (and other nearby stations).

The only place to drink around the ground that welcomes away fans is Sussex University’s student bar (it is very good). It’s not in the city but a 10 minute walk to the ground.

The city itself is full of amazing pubs with something for everything but just allow enough time to get the train to the ground if you do this.

I’ll revert back to this thread with some suggestions of pubs but very happy to answer any questions you may have in the meantime about travel etc.

What’s the easiest way, and how long should it take, to get from the stadium to Brighton Station post-match, please?

Will I be able to park at the Uni?
Yes but you have to pay £18 for parking!

Lewes is fantastic. A lot of great ‘proper pubs’ but much more relaxed than Brighton.

Thank you. I would be delighted with finishing where we are if it meant European football.
Mill Road. It's the closest to the A23 and the biggest. It's full about 90 minutes before kick off.
Just to add more detail to my own comment.

You can park at the racecourse which has more spaces, but it’s the other side of the city and more difficult to get to for most of you driving down.

I’ve included the travel link and ‘free trial area’ guide below.

100% the train. Hang around after the full time whistle, have a beer in the concourse of the fan zone, or even in the Home End and then stroll down to get a train once the queues have died down.

If you left bang on the whistle. I’d say 20 minutes if you’re lucky. 40 minutes if you’re not.
is the blue plaque still there in the alleyway where leslie ash got rogered in quadrophenia?
I believe so. Alongside a Mod shop next door and a load of graffiti from various couples.

The alley is called Quadrophenia alley and has its own sign now.
Utter woke nonsense. People falling over themselves to be nice.
Can’t believe my traditional SMB welcome post has been
deleted😂😂😂😂😂
Games gone mate.

It certainly is. Things aren’t the same.

Anyway, welcome. Do enjoy it here mate!

Hi
We are on a 6.15 train back to london, in the American Express suite, will we need to leave literally after the game to catch our train, or will we have time for a quick one after the game, your thoughts would be appreciated
I would be leaving on the final whistle mate. I went with Wolves for the midweek cup game last year. Thameslink very kindly cancelled every train leaving Brighton after 10:15pm, so I legged it out of the ground on 85 minutes when Brighton scored their third.

Men, women and children were also all running for the train station. I missed Wolves' second consolation goal, but was towards the front of the queue for the trains to Brighton. Looking down the platform while we waited, a huge queue built up after the final whistle, some of ours said it took the best part of an hour to fully clear. Stewards will prevent overcrowding on the platform too.

It's often recommended to hang about and have a pint.
It's less than 10 mins on the train, then loads of trains back to London taking 1 hour 20 to 1 hour 30ish if that's your route.
This. I've never left a game early in my life and never will It always used to astonish me when we were at Roker Park how people couldn't wait to get out of the ground to sit in a traffic jam. I used to park at the Bluebell and walk to the ground and once the game was over reversed the process, had a pint in the Bluebell and then drove home to Bellingham. Happy days!

Cheers for the reply, I might just need to swallow the charge as it seems easy for me.

You have Opened a Can of Worms there Kidda, 😉 all the subsequent questioning BUT Many Thanks for an Informative and well thought out Post.

A Friend of mine is a Seagulls Fan and He too, married a local Lass from the North East after studying at Durham University (Posh Get, Lol). He used to drag me and an Evertonian Fan to exotic places like Carlisle United and Hartlepools United to watch the Seagulls when you guys were in the Lower Leagues....We even got a ticket to Bolster the Seagulls Fans at Sid James Park when Brighton beat the Delusional and Unethical Monochrome Toerags at Sid James Park.

Yes, Really Looking forward to this one......We're drinking in Newhaven afore and after the Game as the free rail Service runs from there too and it may be a little less crowded than Brighton, which Yes is a Lovely (alternative) Seaside City....Lewes is Canny too.

Hopefully, we leave on Sunday with more points towards the Magic 40 number.

On the way home, We aim to take in Hartlepools United's game at Braintree Town on the Sunday too..... before as Chris Rea (Middlesbrough's Finest, well after Paul Rodgers) sang....." Driving Home for Christmas."

All the Best to you Seagulls!!

Ha'way the Lads and Up the Pools!!!

Yeah I'm staying over with two friends so I don't need to rush about getting back. Looking forward to exploring the bars round Brighton
