Robin Roefs 🇳🇱 compendium

I always find it interesting to study goalkeepers positioning, their movements, how much ground they cover etc etc.
Our guy is quite an athlete for a big man.
Notice how wide his stance is his legs almost coiled.
His positioning is perfect in that Palace game.
To think he’s still a novice in terms of experience
Fall ower man with his legs coiled

Superb again today.

One very good save from the long range strike in which he parried well clear but towards the end of the game really showed how much he has improved us by claiming a couple of crosses and punching a corner well clear under pressure.

Basic stuff but done extremely well and very noticeable when we don't have a goalkeeper who can do it.

So reassuring.

bloke just oozes confidence

wasn't even that arsed at 1-0. was just thinking it they do get owt on target it's fine as Roefs will save it anyway

He’s considerably younger than Patterson as well.

I like Patto and the job he's done for us, but the levels are miles apart.

I doubt the club expected Patto to get to the level he has in reality - we were bringing in Hoffmann and sending Patto to Notts County when they had a similar level of experience and similar ages. His calmness, temprament and at times shotstopping probably got him to a level many never expected.

My only concern with Roefs is how he'll react as a young keeper after a couple of tonkings (the villa mistake didn't affect him like) and some club paying a fortune for him if he keeps this up.

Right at the end he had to save a strong shot more or less straight at him. He saved it and held on to it. Some goalies woukd have spilled that and Wolves woukd have scored with the follow up.
That was a vital save.

Having a keeper that claims crosses the way he does is such a asset and takes so much pressure off the defence

Potential wise there’s not many keepers around with he’s potential

I not exaggerating when I say I cannot remember a keeper who has better positioning than him. Seems to always be in the right place at the right time. It’s no coincidence anymore.
