Yorkshire v Durham : CC September 24

You speak of the piss poor bowling attack, but who else is there? I might have misunderstood your point here, but the players picked in the last two squads are pretty much all that’s available.

I’d love to know where the **** Carse, Stokes and Wood are for example. I’m by no means a happy clapper, but we’re sending four of our seamers to Australia for the Ashes, so clearly we have some talent - it’s like the yanks say “your best ability is availability” and unfortunately we’ve not had much of that for years.

I would’ve liked to have seen more of a push to get either Aldridge or an overseas seamer for the climax of the season.
It’s frustrating but if you’re expecting any of England’s made of glass seam attack to play county cricket in September two months before the Ashes (or at all really these days) you haven’t been watching much in the last ten years.

Worrell and Atkinson missing too, are they injured?
Well Atkinson will have been stood down by England. Which is fair enough with his injury record.

Don't get why Pope has and Currans missing isn't out of the ordinary but I don't get why they aren't playing. Got a 17 year old debutant and a 20 year old with 2 FC games instead of their experience.

Thought Sam wanted to get into the test team! Although the England setup don't give a monkeys about red ball.

Worrall was in the squad so must have a knock

Pope is one of the few even among the batters who tends to play in September. And I’m generally of the view that those who play do so because they want to and not because they’ve been ordered to or not to like seven-year-olds by England’s management. If so his decision to give it a miss suggests Surrey have given up on this one.

I’ve been watching plenty, I didn’t say I expected it, just that we should have the use of it.

I think you are right. Pope having lost the VC you'd have thought would want to stamp a statment that he's the number 3 and not Bethell, but oh well.

Sam Curran complained he wasn't brought in for Stokes a few times now. Yet barely turns out in the CC.

Their top 3 already gone. Last recognised experienced batsman in Foakes/Lawrence in at 4/5 then two kids and the bowlers from 8

Going to need a big partnership from them two. Hopefully their young lads can show some of the talent they showed in the One Day Cup!
