SOL expansion

Villa have been in the Champions League and have European football again this season

We are nowhere near that level

It is ridiculous to expand now
Most people know that we don't require it now. However, if the council plans for the sheepfolds make it into a now or never scenario, then we should absolutely do it now.
Clearly getting old!
The Summerbee replacement was great.
Alex Rae played right side and scored 😉

Exactly we’ve been in the premier league 5 mins, people need to calm down

A good 2 - 3 seasons of sustainable sell outs is probably required before taking the plunge. We’ve experience in the past of attendances tailing off if things aren’t going well and/or complacency kicks in about being a middling PL side. Also, no idea how price sensitive we are. If the non early bird prices are anything to go by, a material increase in ST prices looks like happening next year. Will that make some people re-consider?

People go on about an expansion being more about increasing the corporate offerings. But it doesn’t particularly sound as if the new corporate packages are high in demand/selling out.

Not that well as Summerbee didnt play 😅

just had a quick gander on statcat at that match (40,579 attendance - presume segregation took the rest up). the reading midfield was packed out with ray 'oap' houghton & phil 'parky' parkinson... clark & ball would have had a field day that game! 🙃

The club will do the maths on any expansion before going ahead with it including factoring in likelihood of how often it’s filled etc based on likelihood of different scenarios including the (likely) future spells back in the championship

For example, the ground was expanded in 2000/01 and that extra capacity has probably been filled, what 20%(?), of the time in the last 24-25 years.

But I bet the occasions where it has been filled paid for the costs of the extension within a few years and is now comfortably in to profit and that capacity now exists for whenever it’s needed
Things like concerts and other outside of football income will play apart now also. Weren’t some gigs lost due to our lack of premium offerings.

I'm not sure about that.

The vast majority of hospitality packages sold out weeks before the season even started.

When I checked to see what was available for West Ham the only seats left were very expensive. Including some which were about £600 per person.

Boxes are sold out ain’t they, the rest selling well also only a few left in the ultra premium for the west ham game and a handful of the other. The club need to look for ways to improve income streams they will be looking at the extension if we stay up for a few seasons.

I think the way football finances are the more corporate we can offer the better. It’s not for me but I think coming up with a design that while adds a good few thousand standard seats it’s ups the boxes and premium offerings. It’s just the way it’s going and we seem to sell things like boxes pretty quickly now.
Any extension will be primarily to improve corporate offerings but they will also add extra seats that's for sure!If they made the concourse bigger and improved the food and beer im sure folk would spend more time pre match than they do now as its just not an enjoyable experience attempting to get a beer and some food !

I get the desire to increase commercial revenue through an extension, but the extra seats do still concern me a lot about how soulless it could end up being inside the ground if we don’t kick on or end up yo-yo’ing between the leagues (or worse), as the crowds will likely revert to 40k. To me the extra capacity just isn’t needed at this moment in time. Cup games don’t bear thinking about. I admit to not knowing much about this entire process though so it could all just be ‘in theory for a future point’ at this stage.
No idea why people are scared of empty seats.

Boxes are sold out as is founders bar, Monty’s, Quinn’s, Business lounger and riverside brasserie

Banks on the wear looks 70% sold and similar to 76 yards
Scared of Saudis posting photos of emptee seeats
