Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

Seeing all these videos and photos just makes me miss the place more and more. Haven't been over since League One days.
I’m guessing you’ll see a huge difference. New buildings around the City Hall nearly done, eye infirmary on its way. Then obviously the bridge across to the Sheepfolds, which is a topper venue.
It looks shit, the bit underneath apparently broke straight away, and it cost over a million quid. An absolute waste of money
Keel Sq has been used as the hub of many events. Whether the telly was shit or not, the place has been turned into a venue the city use.

In turn taking money away from our pubs and actual venues in the city

Pretty sure all the people in the square do use businesses in the city during their visit! That said i dont think it needs a permanent screen up especially covering the front of the soon to be finished culture house. Im sure for big events they will bring a screen into the square they can be driven in and out easily enough

It’s the opposite. I have personally bought food & drinks out of venues like the Peacock & Engine Rooms as well as independent traders because the 10k congregates there, because that’s where they switch on the Christmas lights.

Do you think all these people rock up with a packed lunch & the venues in the area don’t notice a difference.

There's a weird Catch 22 with the people of Sunderland that they constantly demand new things but when they arrive, they complain that they could impact existing things.
