Not to be a fanny about things, but using phrases like this for someone who helped get us us out of both League One and the Championship is really uncalled for.
Agreed. Yes, some of the players who helped us climb through the divisions may not be good enough for the Premier League but if they leave it should be with our thanks, not the vitriol some fans are throwing at them.

As Sunderland fans we need to stay humble not arrogant otherwise we'll end up coming across as deluded like that lot up the road.

Hes a very good player, I hope he signs a new contract. If nothing else we need him during the AFCON when our other two left backs will be away. Personally I think he'll play more than that but keep him to January at least for me

Everyone we've signed is fit as fire and ready to go, literally! Reinildo is taking Cirkins spot, and for me there's a huge different in player ability. If Cirkin can get back to full fitness and performances we know he can deliver, then he's got a chance as a back-up. I think SAFC will stick by him for a while, let's see how things lie at Christmas.

Fair comment but he's seven years further into his career than Cirkin, at a similar age he was playing for Belenenses and sent out on loan to Lille with a 3m option to buy. Best not be too hasty getting rid of last years core players.
If he’s not signing a new contract he may be wanting to get rid of himself.

It’s his/her online schtick.

Seems to be an awful lot disdain for the lad for no other reason than he is last years model ( also see Dan Neil ) and that he has had injury issues
We got both him and Aljese because there were doubts over fitness but certainly none over their quality. Jose was very enthused about Cirkin and the special one isn’t big on dishing out unwarranted praise.
In both their instances ‘cometh the hour cometh the man’. I don’t think either will let us down if they are fit and selected

Good lad Dennis, seems to have battled some demons and wish him all the best. Would like him to sign a contract and fight it out but as it stands he’s soon to be out of contract, injured and third choice. Struggle to see him getting near the first XI when fit and needs to be playing regularly.

If he won’t sign a new deal, or hasn’t even been offered one, then sentiment goes out of the window and he will be moved on.

He’ll have a good career flitting between PL and Championship. Or could FO to Italy for a simpler life.

Haven’t posted in months but coming out of a brief hiatus to say that this thread is a good indicator of how quickly some people turn into cocky wankers.

I am fully on board with us having to add quality to the squad but the lack of respect some posters are showing for the players who got us where we are, without even giving them a chance to step up, is exactly why this place is rancid at times.

Cirkin, Neil, Patterson etc deserve far better. Love our actual fanbase, the online element is toxic.
What a load of crap. If Cirkin smd Neil deserve better then they should of signed new contracts. You can’t have it both ways

Nice reminder. Because we’ve used even younger players (like Mayenda, Jobe, Rigg) I sometimes forget that those with a couple more years on them are still very much at the learning/development stage of their careers.

I'd like to see how he develops now that we have defenders who are, with respect to him, a class above.
I hope he kicks on, but I've a doubt about his physicality and whether he is big and strong enough for a regular premier league defender

Think his photo and Time Will Tell message is probably a sign that he's not leaving this window. He'll probably see how things go & how many minutes he plays until January. If he hasn't featured much by then he'll probably leave on a free next summer. Same as Neil

I think physicality might be a factor . Its not something that cant be overcome but improving his strength has probably been held back , you cant bench press with a broken wrist . "We can rebuild him" , especially as he matures and gets his proper ' man strength' . Worth a try. 💪🏻🏋🏻

I have said on other threads that we need to keep the core group of players from last season together. Signing 2 players for Cirkins position is going to make it hard for the lad though.

Sadly, there’s no room for sentimentality.
The players we’ve signed are a considerable step up in quality from the lads who got us promoted.

If our ambition is to avoid relegation by some distance (which it looks like it is) the vast majority of the lads from last season are going to get very little game time and will only be selected if we encounter multiple injuries.

Great post👍

Both him and Neil deserve a lot of credit, wether they're up to being a premier league player they'll have to prove that themselves but, they won't be doing that with us if neither signs a new contract in which case it'll be thanks for the memories but good bye
