North Stand extension

The white metal cladding used instead of the brickwork is more irritating. Especially when (thankfully) brickwork was used for the North West Corner part of the extension, just daft they then decided to use cladding instead mixed with brickwork where the big black cats are.

Like everything it was done on the cheap

How many sell outs have we had since the stadium opened ?
It’s not about how many times in the past we have sold out. It’s all about that we capitalise on the momentum we currently have.

Most games this season will be sellouts. Survival this season is crucial and if we stay up it’s imperative to expand the ground asap.

My preference would ve to expand the South Stand as a single tier all the way back at sensible pricing. They could in theory add executive boxes at the very back or another section with the same blueprint the 76 yards.

Spurs done this but put a corporate section slap bang in the middle of the single tier stand, kills it.

Does anyone have any images of the outside of the North Stand pre-extension? Was thinking about how much the land behind has changed with the Aquatic Centre, the hotel and the Beacon and can remember cutting across that big field back towards Southwick clear as day but have no recollection of the outside of the North Stand pre-extension.

Obviously I know it was basically just a replica of the South Stand minus the overhang of the upper tier but still.
I hoyed this up in another thread this morning. Right at the beginning there is an aerial shot of the SOL. If you keep watching it shows more of the SOL and it look weird seeing all the red seats at 3:45

The idea was for a wall of noise and red n white as far as the eye can see.

If done correctly, it would be a formidable experience for all the senses and a massive asset to overall ground atmosphere.

I’m still dead against an extension right away, if we looking comfortable in our second season then would agree it’s time to set any potential plans into action.

We’ll struggle to get 20-25k for cup game, that alone shows we done have the core support to warrant a bigger ground.

Those who are desperate to get a ticket now for a league game should be itching to get in the ground for Huddersfield too.

If they could convert the back row of the East Stand to corporate/hospitality and exits for after matches, that'd be a great place to start.

Mad how much the area has came on since then. We’ve been lucky in that it’s always been very close to the centre, but it’s a hive of activity around there now with Sheepfolds, the Beacon, the baths, the Hilton. Class.

Totally agree. Ample seats at the moment until we can prove we can sustain the league level of support. Our cup crowds are and have been baffling low for ages and it’s hard to understand why when our league tickets are no longer ‘cheap’ like they used to be and our cup games are cheap.

It would have killed the match going experience had they built it in some random out of town industrial estate. Imagine it being built in some random area of Washington. We got very lucky, although the vaux site would have been even better had it been available then.

I'd rather just have the south stand extension be an extra tier like the north stand. It will look better and be a lot cheaper to build. You can then just make the lower tier of the South Stand all safe standing if you want to get that big home end vibe and increase the radgey factor.
Like the old Roker End, just a huge wall of people

The SOL wouldn't fit on the Vaux site no matter which way you rotated it.

When the NWC extension was first built it was just an open steel frame with no upper floors. They filled it in with floor slabs and brickwork later. I remember an article about the new space being classrooms for the FoL.

Also, I don’t know if due to time or cost but the windows that face the swimming pool weren’t glass originally they were just cheap polycarbonate sheets the same profile as the metal cladding. The proper windows were added when the BCB fit out was done later.

Does anyone know what the first floor is in the north stand extension. I’m pretty sure 2nd floor is BCB and the away concourse is above that. So the first floor doesn’t seem to be in use but with space at a premium now you’d think it’d be some sort of hospitality.

Is that floor space you mention not the away end bar? Obviously a long time ago now, but when we had visitors over donkeys ago we gave them our season ticket seats and we got a couple of tickets in the North Stand Upper for a couple of matches. Arsenal when Schwarz scored and Leicester when Reyna did spring to mind. I’m sure I remember the actual bar area being on a different level to where there was essentially just some extra room to stand around. Could be completely wrong here mind and it could have even changed.
