Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

I meant it’s mentioned that he can play both, he is primarily a right back. And has played CB in the 3. Not the same as a 2

The exact words are: In addition, he has tactical versatility as a right back and centre back – for these reasons, we felt it was an acquisition we needed to make to enhance our group.

Doesnt make any perference, thats just your own opinion that you are trying say the club sent, they arent. That is part of the reason they signed him.

People just obsess with pigeonholing players, same as people insisting Wilson was not a striker for months

Big Jhon has 2 more matches away to Roma and home to Como before the window shuts. After the internation break does he fancy playing away for the Bolognese Munchers at the San Siro or for the Mackem Wizards at Selhurst Park???

Even better, knock 1 million off the offer every day until the Bolognese Munchers start to panic.
Negotiate downwards. I like it!

Seems strange no other club seems to be linked to such a highly rated player.
His main strengths are winning the ball back on the deck and playing quick forwards balls to launch attacks. He also has a fairly clear weakness in his aerial win rate.

There aren't that many clubs with big budgets that want a player that is so clearly built for counter attacking football. He's perfect for the way we want to play this year and we will pay big money, but a lot of other clubs will see a centre back that loses too many headers and isn't worth what Bologna are asking.

Mate I’m not sure if you’re even reading what I’m saying.

The Wilson striker winger debate is completely different

Mukiele has played most of his career games at right back or right wing back. Large majority of his CB games if not all are the right side of a back 3. For example at Leverkusen when frimpong was RWB and he practically played right back as that right sided centre back.

Shoehorning him would be to say he’s our right CB in the back four every week. It might work but it’s not his natural position.

Im using the clubs own words. It’s literally one of the reasons they signed him, not my opinion. Speakman words

I like the thinking. Actually add the money knocked off to the players wages offer so every day the club will be missing out and move quicker and every day the player will want to move more and more. It doesn't work like that but it is a cracking tactic to unsettle. Would be nice to great these last transfers done quickly and be finished with the most baffling, cracking, but unexpected transfer window in my whole life (49 years)

The model I imagined was we now target promising players around the 5 -10 million pound mark that are promising , but some of our business has been done so quickly and well thought out that it has blown me away. Our owner was 23 years of age when he took over us in League 1. He is now 27 and has us in the Premier league. There are others on here who actually thought he didn't want us to get promoted as he wouldn't want to pay the extra wages needed!    That he would sell up at the earliest chance etc etc

I think the club have said they prefer players who have flexibility and can play in a number of different positions, which makes sense. Providing they're good of course!
