Charlie who? We’re a million miles away from where we were when he was involved, and the most positive thing he did for us was giving up his shares. An absolute charlatan.

Doubt we would have ever got promoted to the Premier League under those two.Glad we got rid before getting back to the premier league so he and the fat fucker clinging on to the last few strands of his hair don’t profit from us being back in the big time.
As long as he's getting the Lambton Worm treatment, I'm all for itSalmon pants tifo next

Not correct. People have short memories (if you forgive the pun). There was a consortium of much more financially savvy people at the time who had made an offer to Short for the Cub but obviously they weren't prepared to hand over most of the parachute payments to him.Like it or lump it, the clear out that he and Donald oversaw was the start of the refresh
It was a very early stage, but an important one nonetheless. We don't get KLD without a radical overhaul of the clubs finances
Remember they bought the club at a time when no one else wanted too
But by god did they make some terrible decisions![]()

I don't know how close Michael Gray's was connected with that consortium but I recall that at the time he was very angry when it's bid was rejected in favour of Mutt and Jeff's . Gray pointed out that Mutt & Jeff didn't have sufficient funds to run a Club the size of Sunderland for which he received dogs own abuse. Unfortunately he was absolutely right and we suffered four seasons in League One as a consequence.
The clear out that Mutt and Jeff oversaw did address the issue of wasteful spending but that would have been dealt with anyone who had acquired the Club and saw the mess that Short had left. But in addition to that because of their lack if finance they cut back on other very obvious things like the general maintenance of the SOL which has only now been addressed at some considerable cost.
Mutt and Jeff were far from being financial wizards. It was simply that they were the only people who would pay Short what the Club was worth AND compensate him with a payment to cover the cost of some of the money he had put in to SAFC and lost.
Strange how he no longer posts.
Probably too busy telling Charlton and Oxford fans how amazing he is.Strange how he no longer posts.![]()
The were desperate to sell it after we lost the Play Off final against Charlton. And they wanted to make a quick bucket
Soon as met them at a fans forum I knew they didn't have the knowledge or the finance
He was a bellend in front of the scenes as well. Not a nice bloke behind the scenes
