Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

Be amazed if either start. Both catching up fitness wise. Guiu had very little pre-season work due to his involvement in the CWC and Alderete has only played 45 mins of a friendly for Getafe all summer and that was back in July.

Seelt and Mayenda will both start imo.

Seelt and Ballard as our cb pairing in the Premier league would be scary imo. Play off heroics aside ballard was well off it most last season and seelt (when fit) wouldn't have got a look in last season either, and I'm not as encouraged by some half decent pre season performances as others are

In trouble then

Keep reading this and it's just not true. Stop start season due to injuries and when he played he showed he was more than capable. Unrelated injury kept him out again and when he returned he looked good again.

I agree but we’re pretty much forced to go this way unless he plays a stand in fullback and Reinildo as CB. The options there aren’t great either - Huggins who’s looked understandably rusty in pre-season or Jones who would be playing against Bowen …..some tough choices for Regis !

All opinion related at the end of the day and I'm sure recency bias/overall positivity right now can have it looking differently in some cases but mepham and luke were well ahead of him even when fit until Mephams form fell off a cliff towards the end

Yeah 100% on the same page here, risky not only performance wise to throw omar in but could also be more likely to pick some muscle related injury up too

Of course it is, agreed there. I like Ballard and maybe there is some recency bias (or form as I'm going to call it). He's been in good form towards the back end of last season and has looked good, if not great in pre-season. He deserves a chance, I'd LOVE even better than him to come in and allow him to develop further and rise to becoming a starting player - but equally, I have no problem with him starting as 1 of our 2 CB's. Seelt on the otherhand......nah

If Alderete isn’t ready I’d go with the below. Quality at CB isn’t there, but it’s at least players playing in their correct positions

Hume Ballard Seelt Reindo

Fully agree marra, would love nothing more than big Dan to cement himself as a top level player. Those scenes after the Coventry game were up there with when defoe scored the second against Chelsea for me, magical night
