Scrap The Hundred.
Put all of the money into an 18 team, two division T20 county competition where the top division is called the ‘Premier League’ and has access to two thirds of the money - therefore a division to aim for.
Each county is expected to supplement their line up with 2 overseas signings of international status.
Play 8 games each, in a small timeframe, and at the end 2 (or3) gain promotion/relegation.
Less games but at a higher intensity, while ALL counties retain their identity would make it more appealing to traditional cricket fans

I wonder if the ECB have considered the evidence for the damage it has done to the county teams since its introduction has coincided with a sharp decline in T20 attendances and the schedules have been sacrificed at the expense of domestic cricket in order to prioritise the Hundred.
As the Guardian article confirms they have not considered any evidence. They aren’t interested. But you don’t need evidence for this one. It’s an inevitable consequence of downgrading the county tournament to second tier status. Look at Welsh domestic rugby to see how regional franchises destroy the club game.

It really is a case of a sporting body sabotaging it's own sport.

Your first sentence is what I've said for a while. I've never known anything like it.
And I heard Richard Thompson on TMS during the week. I think deep down he knows that The Hundred is so wrong but he's sold out for the money so won't go against it now.
This season is the 1st one where I have not been to any cricket whatsoever due to illness, the schedule of 4 day games has been untenable as living in London and travelling to CLS,Hove,Worcester or where ever (love the outlier grounds) requires to be able to access good weather reports a few days in advance as train tickets on the day are prohibitive to the casual groundhopper! I have got no interest in 100 ball games that involve made up teams of mercenaries!

I don’t mind having it on if there’s nowt else on but I’ll never buy into the propaganda that it’s our best limited overs comp and also that it’s made Cricket more popular. If anything I think Cricket has declined in relevancy since it came in.The 16.4 circus is back.

Could be good news. The only way it can be profitable to the owners is if it attracts Indian viewers and it'll only attract them if it contains a majority of Indian players -the Indians are very parochial. Consequently less England domestic players involved resulting in the Metro Cup becoming less of a development competition. Enjoy the Metro Cup and ignore the noise from the bairns' tournament.
